Abstract

PURPOSE: To diffuse weld Ti and Fe completely, by interposing Cr and Ni or Cn in a form of the foil or the plating layer between Fe and Ti and by applying heat and pressure to them under specific pressure and temperature.
CONSTITUTION: In case of production of the Ti clad steel superior in joint performance, Fe and Ti are diffused and welded. In this case, after Ni and Cr are plated as insert materials in order on the surface of the Fe material, the Ti material is superposed, and pressure of 0.1kg/mm2 or more is applied to them for 10 or more minutes while heating them at temperature 700W1,100°C in the vacuum atmosphere. Otherwise, Cr is plated on one face of the Ni foil, and the Ni foil is inserted between Fe and Ti materials so that the Cr plated face and the Ni face may be matched to the Ti face and the Fe face respectively, and they are caused to adhere to each other under said processing conditions. Cu may be used in stead of Ni. Cr and Ni or Cu become a solid solution completely, and Ni and Fe are diffused and welded completely without generating fragile intermetallic compounds.
