Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic head excellent in the magnetic and mechanical characteristics, by forming the thin film layer of inorganic substance at the magnetic recording medium contact part of magnetic core and partial heat treatment of the surface layer. CONSTITUTION:The lamination film 7 of inorganic substance is formed with C.V.D. or P.V.D. at the magnetic recording medium contact part of the magnetic core 1, and heat energy 8 with high power density like electron beam and laser beam is partially irradiated on the lamination film 7. The lamination film 7 is diffused on the surface layer of the magnetic core formed with permalloy with this heat treatment, showing the operation of cured layer. As inorganic substance to be used, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, B, Si are employed. It is preferable to form cured layer having <=0.3mum thickness, and if this value is over, the reproducing characteristics of the magnetic head can be deteriorated greatly.
