Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the recording density, i.e., the high frequency characteristics and the corrosion resisting property and to improve the head touch by forming a thin film of ferromagnetic metal on an application type magnetic layer and by forming thereon a film composed mainly of an organic substance.
CONSTITUTION: There is formed on a substrate 1 of a high molecular mold or a non-magnetic metal a magnetic layer 2 of the so-called application type, in which ferromagnetic particles such as γ-Fe2O3, CrO2 or the line are dispersed in an organic substance. The layer 2 is formed by the vacuum evaporation or the plating process with ferromagnetic metal such as Co, Fe or Ni or an alloy composed mainly thereof as a thin film 3 of ferromagnetic metal. There is further formed on the thin film 3 a film 4 which is composed mainly of an organic material. Thus, it is possible to use as the film a material which is excellent in the head touch, the wear resisting property for the head, smoothness and the charge preventing ability. Moreover, the film 3 having the problems of the corrosion preventing property and crack resisting property can be covered with the film 4.
