Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic material stable in magnetic strength after slow oxidation and slight in demagnetization at reproducing through a slow oxidation of a multilayer film made of oxide magnetic thin films mainly composed of Fe3O4 and of thin films of Fe or an alloy mainly composed of Fe.
CONSTITUTION: An oxide magnetic thin film mainly composed of Fe3O4 and a thin film of Fe or an alloy (e.g. FeCo) mainly composed of Fe are alternately formed on a disc or the like into a multilayer film. The multilayer film thus obtained undergoes a slow oxidation. The number of layers may be more than two. The thickness of the oxide thin film and the metal thin film are properly determined within 500 to 5000Å and 50W100Å respectively. These films are formed by various well- known methods.
