Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the magnetic recording medium from being curled, by providing the nonmagnetic substance thin film having the product of a specific multiple to the product between the Young's modulus and the film thickness of the ferromagnetic substance film of one side of the plastic support, to the opposite side of the support.
CONSTITUTION: The nonbinder type magnetic substance film 2 is provided to one side of the plastic support 1 such as polyester, with the ferromagnetic substance metal or its oxide, by means of vacuum evaporation. In this case, the layers 2, 3 are formed so that the product between the film thickness and the Young's modulus of the layer 3 can be 0.5W1.5 times that of the layer 2. Thus, the magnetic recording medium can be prevented from being curved to any side of the layers 2 and 3. Accordingly, failures such as lowering of reproduced output due to improper contactness between the medium and the magnetic head can be avoided.
