Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in the actual use characteristics of the magnetic recording medium of metal thin film type using high polymer molding as a base material by laminating a vapor deposition layer of gold, silver or copper, a vapor deposition layer composed of specific material and a magnetic layer on a base material.
CONSTITUTION: A vapor deposition layer 2 composed of copper is provided preferably to thicknesses 200 to 500 Å on the surface of a base material composed of a high polymer molding such as polyethylene terephthalate film. On this is provided an intermediate vapor deposition layer 3 of large oxygen affinity such as of Cr, Si, Al, Ti, W, Mo, etc preferably to thicknesses 200 to 500 Å. A magnetic layer 4 of metal thin film type is provided on this layer 3. Thereby, disadvantages such as decrease in reproduction output level, peeling of the magnetic layer, etc. that can be seen at the repetitive running may be eliminated and the intrinsic advantage that output level may be made larger than that of coating type even with the tape of the same coercive force may be best utilized.
