PURPOSE:To achieve a vertical magnetic recording body without decrease in the output of short wavelength and with excellent uniform characteristics and reproducibility, by forming a nonmagnetic metallic thin film layer on a nonmagnetic support base, and forming a Co-Cr alloy ferromagnetic thin film layer after forming a soft magnetic amorphous metallic thin film layer. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic metallic thin film layer made of Al is formed on a nonmagnetic support base made of flexible high polymer film, glass and ceramic. On this layer, an amorphous soft magnetic thin film of Fe-Si-B is provided by a sputtering method in <=3,000Angstrom thickness. A ferromagnetic thin film layer of Co-Cr alloy is formed in about 1,500Angstrom thickness. Thus, the nonmagnetic thin film having good thermal transfer rate as Al can make easily for the next magnetic substance layer with uniform thickness. Thus, the magnetic recording medium with less curl, distortion and uniform characteristics can be achieved.
