Abstract
PURPOSE:To offer alloy thin-plate magnetic recording media which has sufficiently high recording density and are manufactured at a high yield, by varying the ion density of prescribed atoms in a thin alloy plate in its thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a raw thin alloy plate made of a ferromagnetic material, a coating containing prescribed atoms is formed and the ion density of the prescribed atoms is varied in the thickness direction of the thin alloy plate by a thermal diffusion treatment, etc.; and a prescribed magnetic hardening treatment is carried out to form a hard ferromagnetic material layer having 100Angstrom -1mum and a soft ferromagnetic material layer, is contact with the said layer, inthe thin alloy plate.
