Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce coarse head surface and to increase the performance, by using a magnetic head made of a single crystal ferrite of a specific crystal azimuth and a recording medium having a magnetic vapor-deposited thin film layer. CONSTITUTION:Recording and reproduction is performed with a magnetic head made of a single crystal ferrite by using a magnetic recording medium forming a magnetic thin film on a nonmagnetic substrate by a vapor-depositing method. In this magnetic head, surfaces 2 and 2a contacting and sliding with a magnetic recording medium are made of crystal surface with a same plane as the 100 plane or with a slope in the range of 20 deg. to 110 plane, and gap forming surfaces 5a and 5b are made of a crystal surface with the same plane as the 100 plane or with a slope in the range of 20 deg. to the 100 plane. Thus, coarse head surface can be reduced and the performance can be increased by using the magnetic head for recording and reproduction.
