PURPOSE:To decrease the magnetic resistance of a magnetic head core and to improve the efficiency in the conversion characteristic of a magnetic head by increasing the thickness of thin soft magnetic films except near a magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The thin soft magnetic films 6 consisting of an FeAlSi alloy is formed to the thickness corresponding nearly to the size of a track width near the magnetic gap and to the thickness larger than the size of the track width in the part apart by nearly the size of the track width from the gap. The thin film 6 is sandwiched by both nonmagnetic materials; a substrate 7 consisting of photosensitive crystallized glass and low melting glass 8 having the wear nearly equal thereto. As a result, the core having the small magnetic resistance is obtd. in the state of maintaining the small width of the magnetic head core.
