Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium with high vertical orientation rate and excellent in reproduction output frequency characteristics, by providing a Co-Cr system ferromagnetic metallic film layer via a thin film layer having a specific thickness or lower of isotropic polycrystal or amorphous soft magnetic metal, on a support base. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a support base made of polyimide film or the like, 80% N-20% Fe isotropic polycrystal resistive magnetic thin film is formed or amorphous soft magnetic metallic thin film is formed in <=0.1mu thickness. On the thin film layer, Co-Cr ferromagnetic alloy film is formed in 1,500-5,000Angstrom thickness by a sputtering method. Thus, a magnetic tape having high vertical orientation rate, excellent saturated magnetizing amount, coercive force and excelent reproduction output frequency characteristics for high density recording, less film curl and good running peroperty can be obtained.
