Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an adjusting agent described in the title which is capable of forming a protective film excellent in corrosion resistance and adhesive property, by the chemical conversion treatment using the adjusting agent soln., which is made by addn. of Zr ions or Ti ions, and a complexing agent to an aq. alkaline soln. of a pH not less than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:To an aq. soln. of hydroxide, carbonate, phosphate, borate of an alkali metal having a pH not less than 9 and ranging in concn. from 0.1 to 50g/l converted into NaOH are added a Zr compound, e.g., Li2ZrF6, Na2ZrF6, or Zr(SO4)2 etc. or a Ti compound, e.g., H2TiF6, Na2TiF6 or Ti(SO4)2 ranging in quantity from 0.01 to 10g/l converted into the metal, and a complexing agent, e.g., pyrophosphoric acid, tripolyphosphoric acid, hexahydroxyheptonic acid or one of the Na salts of the respective acids, which compelxes and dissolve Zr ions or Ti ions into a soln., in a quantity ranging from 0.1 to 100g/l converted into hexahydroxy heptone. The adjusting agent is used for the pretreatment of chemical conversion treatment of the surface of zinc or zinc alloy by the immersion method or the spraying method at a temp. 50-90 deg.C for 3-60sec.
