Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the contrast ratio, by preventing the reflection of external light effectively, through the coating of photo absorbing thin film forming black background at the transparent electrode of the back electrode opposing to the transparent electrode provided with the display surface.
CONSTITUTION: The stripe transparent electrodes 2 are arranged parallelly on the heat-proof glass substrate 1, and the first dielectric substance layer 3 and the ZnS luminous layer 4 are formed on them with lamination. Further, the second dielectric substance layer consisting of the Si3N4 film 5 and the Al2O3 film 5b is coated on it, and further, it is covered with the Al2O3-x film 11 which is hardly removed for O from Al2O3. Moreover, on it, the metal thin film 12 such as Mo, Zr, Ti, Y, Ta, and Ni 100 to 300 Å thick is coated, which absorbs the light invaded in the EL panel and causes black background for visual observation. After that, the Al back electrode 13 is formed on the thin film 12 while making orthogonal to the electrode 12 in stripe shape, the laminated body on the substrate 1 is surrounded with the package consisting of the dish back glass plate 8 and the insulator 9 such as silicon oil 9 is sealed in it.
