Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable displaying of good looking by forming respectively two layers of vapor-deposition film on upper and lower glass substrates and performing disgonal vapor deposition by defining their respective vapor deposition directions as specified.
CONSTITUTION: SiO is diagonally evaporated to an upper glass substrate 1 which has been filmed with transparent electrodes 3, at angles of 0W15° to the plane of the upper glass substrate 1 from the (a) direction, following to which the orientation film of the 2nd layer is formed by diagonally evaporating SiO at angles of 15W45° to the substrate plane from the (b) direction. As to a lower glass substrate 2, SiO is diagonally evaporated to the substrate 2 which has been filmed with transparent electrodes 4, at angles of 0W15° to the plane of the substrate 2 from the (c) direction, following to which the orientation film of the 2nd layer is diagonally evaporated at angles of 15W45°. Here, it is preferable make the film thickness of the 1st layer 100W1,000Å and that of the 2nd layer 1/5W4 times that of the 1st layer orientation film. If liquid crystal is the crystal of left-hand twist, it is desirable to form the 2nd layer of the upper substrate from the counterclockwise direction with respect to the 1st layer.
