Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a display device which is stable to high temp., is easy to see and has long service life and fast responsibeness by forming the oriented film compased of 3 layers of insulation films of respectively specified vapor deposition angles and directions on at least one of a pair of the substrates of a liquid crystal display cell. CONSTITUTION:The 1st insulation film 3 is vapor-deposited from the direction normal to the substrate on at least one of the substrate 2 of a pair of the glass substrates 2 having transparent electrode films 1 by using SiO2. Next, the 2nd insulation film 4 is vapor-deposited on the film 3 by SiO at 75-89.9 deg. vapor deposi- tion angles. Thence, the 3rd film 5 is formed on the film 4 from the direction rotated 90 deg., at 30-73 deg. deposition angles by vapor-deposition of SiO. The thickness d2 of the 2nd film 4 is kept at 50-1,000Angstrom , and the thickness d3 of the 3rd film 5 at a range of 0.5<=d3/d2<=3. The 1st-3rd films 3, 4, 5 may be SiO2. In this way, the orientation treatment that withstands inorganic sealing temp. (about 500 deg.C) is obtained. The ruggedness by the substrate 2 and electrodes 1 is decreased by the 1st insulation film 3 and the liquid crystal orientation parallel to the substrates is obtained.
