Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a coloring layer of superior responsiveness and long life without impairing coloring densities by diagonally evaporating electrochemical coloring materials from different two directions in the specific angle range to a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: Electrochemical coloring materials 8, 11 are diagonally evaporated within a range of 10 to 90° in the angle 15 (vapor deposition angle) from the normal direction 14 of a substrate 1 and from different directions 9, 12 onto the transparent electrodes 4 provided on the substrate 1, whereby an electrochemical coloring layer 5 is formed. Next, a lower substrate 2 provided with a counter electrode 6 and the substrate 1 provided with the abovementioned electrode 4 and coloring layer 5 are opposed and assembled by way of a spacer 3 and electrolyte 7 is sealed therein, whereby the electrochromic device is obtained.
