Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to increase the contrast of a display part by providing a semitransparent film, a metal film or an oxide film of 5 to 50% in transmissivity, onto one side of the cover glass of a fluorescent display tube.
CONSTITUTION: Substrate 1 has a multi-digit pattern display part formed of a group of segment anodes with fluorescent-material layers, a filament anode and a grid electrode. Transparent conductive film 3 of high transmissivity is provided to the internal surface of cover glass 2over substrate 1. To the external surface of cover glass 2, metal semitransparent film 4 is provided by PVD. The light transmissivity of this metal semitransparent film 4 is much lower than that of transparent conductive film 3 and approximately 5 to 50% against green luminescence wavelength 5100Å of ZnO:Zn. Arranging this semitransparent film 4 increases the contrast of the display part and makes the display easy to see.
