Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a cost reduction of a thin film EL element with a high reliable connection obtained by forming a film having the same material as a transparent electrode on the extreme upper part of an outer introduced part of a back plate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate metal 2 is formed by the vacuum evaporation method on a glass substrate 1 of a thin film EL element, then an ITO transparent conductive film of a given thickness is formed on the whole surface by the sputtering method. Then the metal 2 and the transparent conductive film are etched using a given mask, and a transparent electrode 3 is processed in a stripe state. In the processing, an exposure part of a back plate 7 is formed concurrently, and the plate 7 is formed via a luminous layer 5 and the second insulation layer 6. And a cost reduction of a thin film EL element is made by conducting a high reliable connection with a film having the same material as the electrode 3 formed on the extreme upper part of an outer introduced part of the plate 7.
