Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce an electrode plate for electrochromic (EC) display with a simplified process, by forming a resist layer having a pattern adverse to an electrically conductive layer pattern on a substrate, then laminating successively the EC layers to be worked. CONSTITUTION:A resist layer 31 having a pattern adverse to a transparent conductive film pattern to be formed is formed on a display side substrate 21. Then a transparent electrically conductive film 23 and an EC layer 26 are laminated on the entire surface of the substrate 21, and furthermore the resist is coated totally on the film 23 and the layer 26. This resist is exposed to the light to have the resist 22 at a part corresponding to the display electrode character. (Other areas excepting the part of the resist 22 plus the resist layer 31 are removed by etching.) After words, an insulated film 30 is formed on the entire surface of the substrate 21, and the ultrasonic washing is applied to the substrate by using acetone to remove the resist 22 along with the insulated film on the resist. In such way, an EC display electrode substrate is obtained.
