Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a short circuit between electrode patterns, and to decrease a crack of an upper plate, by providing a groove in the vicinity of the terminal part of a display element having an electrode pattern and its terminal part on the upper plate and the lower plate. CONSTITUTION:On an upper plate 6, an electrode pattern 9 to each display is provide, and on a lower plate 8, a common electrode is provided. As for the upper plate 6, an oriented film of a liquid crystal substance, and the electrode pattern 9 are formed, and after that, a groove 10 is provided between each terminal 9a of the electrode pattern by means of etching. When zebra rubber has been adopted as a connector, since the groove 10 is provided, the thickness of the terminal 9a of the electrode pattern 9 generates the same effect as scores-several hundred mum substantially although it is submicron. Accordingly, even if pressure force is small, conduction is held sufficiently and exactly, and a pitch shift is not caused because zebra rubber fills the groove 10.
