Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a wider effective display area with the same electrode area by using plastic plates for electrode substrates, projecting part of the lower electrode substrate, and forming upper and lower conducting parts of a common electrode to the projecting part.
CONSTITUTION: Electrode substrates 1, 2 are both constituted of plastic plates. Transparent conductive films, that is, an upper electrode pattern 5 and a lower transparent electrode 6 are provided on the inner side surfaces thereof in contact with the liquid crystal layer. A conductive adhesive agent is coated on one of the four corners of the electrode pattern 5 of the substrate 1, whereby a common conducting terminal 8 is formed. Further, part of the substrate 2 near the part corresponding to the lower part of the terminal 8 is protruded and a terminal piece 2a is formed there. The upper and lower conducting parts of the common electrode are formed by this part 2a.
