Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the electric resistance of electrode as well as raise the display discharge brightness of a gas discharge displayer by making up the electrode on the display face side of an opaque conductive electrode layer of a pattern other than the intersection portion between the electrode X and the electrode Y and a transparent conductive electrode layer covering the intersection portion. CONSTITUTION:The electrode 16 on the display face side of the electrode X and the electrode Y, each being supported by a pair of the glass substrates, respectively, consists of the opaque conductive electrode layer 14 of a pattern other than the intersection portion A between the electrode X and the electrode Y and the transparent conductive electrode layer 13 covering the intersection portion A. For example, the glass substrate 12 on the display face side is coated with SnO2 by a vapor deposition method, etc., and then subjected to a photo-etching, etc., to form a plurality of transparent conductive electrode layers 13. Then, on the electrode layer 13, a conductive paste, e.g., Au, etc., is printed in a pattern, as shown in Fig., such as to remove the intersection portion A facing the electrode X, and then baked to form the opaque conductive electrode layer 14 consisting of a thick metal film.
