Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.微生物が存在するか存在しないかを分析するサンプルを保持する容器と、 サンプル中に微生物が存在するか存在しないかを示すことができる、前記容器 内のセンサと、 この装置の使用中に気体の通過を可能にする、前記容器の壁面内の気体透過性 膜と を含む、微生物を検出する装置。 2.前記センサが、サンプル中に存在する微生物の代謝生成物に感能性である請 求の範囲第1項に記載の装置。 3.前記センサが、サンプル中の微生物の代謝生成物によるpH変化に感能性で ある請求の範囲第2項に記載の装置。 4.前記センサが、前記容器内の微生物による代謝生成物の結果である気体また は揮発性酸の変化に感能性である請求の範囲第2項に記載の装置。 5.代謝生成物が二酸化炭素であり、前記センサが二酸化炭素の増加に感能性で ある請求の範囲第4項に記載の装置。 6.前記センサが容器の一部の内部表面に取り付けられること、 および容器の前記部分が実質的に透明である請求の範囲第1項に記載の装置。 7.前記気体透過性膜が、容器内にサンプルを含むための疎水性バリヤである請 求の範囲第1項に記載の装置。 8.前記気体透過性膜が、5ないし約30psiの圧力に耐えるように構成され る請求の範囲第7項に記載の装置。 9.前記気体透過性膜が、15psiまたはそれを越える圧力に耐えるように構 成される請求の範囲第7項に記載の装置。 10.前記気体透過性膜が、25psiまたはそれを越える圧力に耐えるように 構成される請求の範囲第9項に記載の装置。 11.前記気体透過性膜が、シリコーン、ポリプロピレン、アクリル共重合体、 フッ素化エチレンプロピレン、低密度ポリエチレン、ポリテトラフルオロエチレ ン、およびポリメチルペンテンから選択した一つまたは複数の材料で作成する請 求の範囲第1項に記載の装置。 12.前記気体透過性膜を覆う密封性かつ気体不透過性の取り外し可能シールを さらに含む、請求の範囲第7項に記載の装置。 13.前記取り外し可能シールがプラスチックで被覆されたアルミニウムからな る請求の範囲第12項に記載の装置。 14.前記気体透過性膜が0.2ミクロンまたはそれより小さい孔サイズを有す る、請求の範囲第12項に記載の装置。 15.圧力下にある時に気体透過性膜の支持を提供するために、気体透過性膜の 内部またはその付近に補強手段を備える請求の範囲第8項に記載の装置。 16.圧力下にある時に気体透過性膜の支持を提供するために、気体透過性膜の 内部またはその付近に補強手段を備える請求の範囲第9項に記載の装置。 17.前記気体透過性膜がポリテトラフルオロエチレンからなり、前記補強手段 が前記気体透過性膜内部にあるポリプロピレン製の支持グリッドである請求の範 囲第15項に記載の装置。 18.前記補強手段が、気体透過性膜の両側に配置された二つの支持グリッドを 含む請求の範囲第16項に記載の装置。 19.気体透過性膜の周囲に隣接して配置されたOリングをさらに含む、請求の 範囲第15項に記載の装置。 20.前記容器がボトルであり、前記気体透過性膜および気体不透過性シールが ボトルキャップ内部に配置されボトルと適合する請求の範囲第12項に記載の装 置。 21.前記容器がボトルであり、前記気体透過性膜および気体 不透過性シールがボトルキャップ内部に配置されボトルと適合し、前記補強手段 が、ボトルキャップ内部に配置された前記気体透過性膜の位置と隣接した複数の 開口をボトルキャップに含む請求の範囲第16項に記載の装置。 22.前記気体透過性膜およびボトルキャップの開口の配列がC字型である請求 の範囲第21項に記載の装置。 23.前記センサがボトルキャップの内部に配置される請求の範囲第21項に記 載の装置。 24.前記センサがボトルの底部の内部に配置される請求の範囲第21項に記載 の装置。 25.前記気体透過性膜が、二酸化炭素より酸素に対する気体透過性が高い請求 の範囲第1項に記載の装置。 26.前記気体透過性膜がポリメチレンペンテンからなる請求の範囲第25項に 記載の装置。 27.装置内の微生物の増殖を援助する流体媒体をさらに含む、請求の範囲第1 項に記載の装置。 28.前記気体透過性膜と隣接して配置された取り外し可能な気体不透過性シー ルをさらに含む、請求の範囲第27項に記載の装置。 29.前記容器内に不活性気体をさらに含む、請求の範囲第28項に記載の装置 。 30.前記気体が窒素および/またはCO2である請求の範囲第29項に記載の 装置。 31.被験サンプルを請求の範囲第27項に記載の装置に加える段階と、 装置を所定温度でインキュベートする段階と、 インキュベート中に装置を振とうする段階であって、装置の気体透過性膜によ り流体媒体およびサンプルの装置外側への通過が制限され、同時に酸素の装置内 への通過の可能である段階と、 装置内のセンサの任意の変化を検出し、装置内に微生物が存在するか存在しな いかを決定する段階と を含む、微生物が存在するか存在しないかということに関してサンプルを分析す る方法。 32.装置内の流体媒体およびサンプルが気体透過性膜から漏れることなくこれ を洗浄する程度に、装置を振とうする請求の範囲第31項に記載の方法。 33.微生物が被験サンプル中に存在する場合には、前記微生 物が増殖のために前記流体媒体を利用すること、および前記微生物が増殖するこ とにより前記装置内で圧力となる気体の代謝生成物が生じ、前記気体透過性膜が 装置内で生じた前記圧力に耐えるように構成される請求の範囲第32項に記載の 方法。 34.前記気体透過性膜が、5ないし30psiの圧力に耐えることができる請 求の範囲第33項に記載の方法。 35.前記気体透過性膜が、少なくとも15psiの圧力に耐えることができる 請求の範囲第33項に記載の方法。 36.前記気体透過性膜が、少なくとも25psiの圧力に耐えることができる 請求の範囲第33項に記載の方法。 37.振とうする間、垂直姿勢と倒立姿勢の間で前後に装置を揺り動かす請求の 範囲第32項に記載の方法。 38.前記被験サンプルが血液サンプル、無菌体液サンプル、または食物サンプ ルである請求の範囲第31項に記載の方法。 39.微生物が、C.albicans、P.aeruginosa、またはM .luteusである請求の範囲第38項に記載の方法。 40.微生物がミコバクテリアである請求の範囲第38項に記載の方法。 41.インキュベートする段階および振とうする段階の間、前記気体透過性膜を 介して前記装置内に入ることができる酸素の方が、前記気体透過性膜を介して前 記装置から外に出ることができる二酸化炭素より多い請求の範囲第31項に記載 の方法。 42.請求の範囲第28項に記載の装置を提供する段階と、 装置から気体不透過性シールを除去する段階と、 被験サンプルを装置に加える段階と、 サンプルを有する装置を所定温度でインキュベートする段階と、 少なくともインキュベート中に装置を振とうする段階であって、装置の気体透 過性膜により流体媒体およびサンプルの装置外側への通過が制限され、同時に酸 素の装置内への通過が可能である段階と、 装置内のセンサの任意の変化を検出し、被験サンプル中に微生物が存在するか 存在しないかを決定する段階と を含む、微生物が存在するか存在しないかサンプルを分析する方法。
