り付けられた円錐台形の二つの端部部材とから構成して
もよいし、二つの円錐台形の部材を結合することによっ
て構成してもよい。さらに場合によっては、中央部1a
は非対称形であてもよい。
他の任意の箇所にねじ込まれるねじ部2aを有する。ね
じ部2aは円柱状本体2bから延びている。円柱状本体
2bの末端には円筒形状の中空のカップ部材2cを形成
している。カップ部材2cはねじが切られた内壁2d
と、凹状の底部2eを有する。底部2eは、ダンパの端
部1d,1eの半分と相補的な形状を有する。図からわ
かるように、カップ部材2cには横方向のノッチ2fが
設けられている。ノッチ2fにはダンパ1のネック1
b,1cが通され、ダンパ1を植え込み部材へ連結でき
るようになっている。両者を連結するには、ダンパ1の
端部をカップ部材2cの中に設置したあと、ねじ付の端
部部材3をカップ部材2c内側のねじ付の内壁2dへね
じ込むことによってダンパ1の端部をロックすればよ
い。なお、端部部材3の内面は半球形の凹面を有し、ダ
ンパ1の球状の端部1d,1eと密接に係合する。図2
及び図3は背骨の隣接する二つの脊椎骨4,5に対す
る、この発明の装置の組み付け状態を示している。

ている。さらに、連続する三つの脊椎骨4,5,6を安
定化する必要のある場合も有り得る。その場合には、中
央に位置される植え込み部材2´のカップ部材に直径を
挟んで対向する二つのノッチ2´fを設ける。一方、二
つのダンパ1´の端部はそれぞれ一つの端部1´d,1
´eを有する。端部1´d,1´eはそれぞれダンパの
長手軸と垂直な面に沿って切断された半球体とされてお
り、これら二つの端部1´d,1´eが植え込み部材2
´のカップ部材の中に保持されるようになっている(図
2の左側を参照のこと)。

はその内側表面にノッチを有し、このノッチが積極的に

る。図5に示されているように、この安定化装置は脊椎
の前面で使用してもよい。

の引っ張り強度が高いという条件、及び圧縮強度が高く
て座屈しにくいという条件を満たす複合材料を使用する
こともできる。選択する材料は同種異種のいずれでもよ
い。

1,12はともに生体適合性を有する弾性材料から形成
されている。第1の部材11はフランジを有するスプー
ルの形を有し、そのフランジ間の距離は自由状態におい

の部材は自由状態において高さHを有する管状のスリー
ブである。両部材11,12は部材11を伸ばしたあと
部材12を部材11のフランジの間に設置することによ
って組立られる。従って、部材11のフランジによって
部材12が圧縮された状態に維持され、一方部材12に
よって部材11が伸長力を加えられた状態に維持され
る。組み付けたあとのスリーブの長さlは部材12のフ
ランジ間の距離に対応し、L<l<Hの関係にある。

1″を有する。エンベロープ11″の外形はダンパ1の
外形と対応している。製造後、中空の内側キャビティを
有するエンベロープ11″を伸ばして、キャビティの高
さを高くする。キャビティの中には横方向の開口部1
1″aを介してブロック12″が挿入される。その結
果、エンベロープ11″は長手方向に向かって伸長され
た状態に維持され、一方ブロック12″はエンベロープ
の作用によって圧縮された状態に維持される。

Claims (15)
- 【請求項1】 少なくとも二つの脊椎骨の間に配置して
使用されるタイプの椎間安定化装置であって、 ダンパ(1,10,10´,10″,100)と、隣接
する二つの脊椎骨(4,5)へ係合される少なくとも二
つの植え込み部材(2)とを有し、前記ダンパが高い引
っ張り強度を有するとともに高い圧縮強度を有する材料
で形成されている椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項2】 前記ダンパ(1)が大径の中央部(1
a)を有する細長い部材であり、前記中央部(1a)が
二つの小径のネック(1b,1c)を介して大径の二つ
の端部(1d,1e)へ連結されている請求項1に記載
の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項3】 前記植え込み部材(2)が前記ダンパの
前記端部(1d,1e)を受容するためのカップ部材
(2c)を有し、前記カップ部材(2c)の底部(2
e)がダンパ1の前記端部(1d,1e)を密着した状
態で受容するのに適した凹状形状を有し、植え込み部材
(2)の前記カップ部材が内壁(2d)を有し、この内
壁(2d)に端部部材(3)を取り付けることによって
前記端部(1d,1e)が前記カップ部材(2c)の底
部(2e)へ当接した状態で保持される請求項1に記載
の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項4】 前記カップ部材(2c)の前記内壁(2
d)がねじ部を有し、前記底部(2e)が半球状に形成
され、前記カップ部材には横方向外側に開口されたノッ
チ(2f)が形成され、前記端部部材(3)がねじ部を
有し、このねじ部を前記内壁(2d)のねじ部に係合さ
せることによって前記内壁(2d)に対して前記端部部
材(3)が取り付けられ、さらに前記端部部材(3)は
前記底部(2e)に対向する半球状の内面を有する請求
項3に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項5】 隣接する二つのダンパ(1´)の端部を
支持する前記植え込み部材(2´)が対向する二つのノ
ッチ(2´f)を有し、前記端部(1´d,1´e)の
少なくとも一方が半球状に形成されている請求項4に記
載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項6】 堅固なスリーブ(7)がダンパ(1)の
二つのネック(1b,1c)に設置されている請求項2
に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項7】 前記ダンパ(1,10,10´,1
0″,100)がエラストマ等の生体適合性を有する弾
性材で形成されている請求項6に記載の椎間安定化装
置。 - 【請求項8】 前記ダンパ(1,10,10.,1
0″,100)が二種類の生体適合性の材料で形成され
ている請求項6に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項9】 前記ダンパ(1)の中央部(1a)の長
手方向の断面が楕円形である請求項2に記載の椎間安定
化装置。 - 【請求項10】 前記ダンパ(1)の中央部(1a)が
非対称である請求項2に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項11】 前記ダンパ(10,10´,10″,
100)の二つの部材で構成され、一方の部材は伸長力
を加えられた状態に維持され、他方の部材は圧縮力を加
えられた状態に維持される請求項8に記載の椎間安定化
装置。 - 【請求項12】 前記ダンパ(10´)が弾性材で形成
されたコア(11´)とこのコアに取り付けられた本体
(12´)とから成り、前記コア(11´)がロッド部
と大径のヘッド部とを有し、前記本体(12´)はコア
(11´)の弾性力によって圧縮された状態に維持され
る請求項11に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項13】 前記ダンパ(10″)が弾性材で形成
されたエンベロープ(11″)と弾性材で形成されたブ
ロックとを有し、前記ブロックは前記エンベロープ(1
1″)に形成されたキャビティ内に収容され、これによ
って前記エンベロープ(11″)が伸長力を加えられた
状態に維持され、一方前記ブロックは圧縮力を加えられ
た状態に維持される請求項11に記載の椎間安定化装
置。 - 【請求項14】 前記ダンパ(100)が二つのスリー
ブ(70)によって連結された本体(120)と部材
(110)とを有し、前記各スリーブ(70)の対向す
る端部が折り曲げられることによってこれら端部の間に
環状空間形成され、この環状空間内にOリング(13
0)が挿入される請求項11に記載の椎間安定化装置。 - 【請求項15】 前記Oリング(130)が圧縮力を補
償するのに十分な弾性力を有する生体適合性材で形成さ
れている請求項14に記載の椎間安定化装置。
