Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.約0.1μmと約250μmの間の直径を有しているバインダー材料の第1 の粒のある量を準備し、該バインダー材料の軟化点よりも実質的に高い軟化点を 有し、約0.1μmと約3000μmの間の直径を有する主材料の第2の粒のあ る量を準備し、 少なくとも混合物の約3重量%の量で該バインダー材料が存在するように、実質 的に均一な混合物にこれらの第1及び第2の粒の量を一緒にし、 押出機バレルから該実質的に均一な混合物を実質的に均一な断面のダイ中に押出 しするが、但し、該断面は押出機バレルの内径の断面積よりも実質的に小さくな いものとし、 該ダイ内の該実質的に均一な混合物を実質的に該バインダー材料の軟化点以上で あるが該主材料の軟化点未満である温度に加熱し、 該ダイ以外から十分な背圧を該ダイ内の加熱された混合物に加えて、該加熱され た混合物を実質的に均質な複合材料に変換し、 該複合材料を該バインダー材料の軟化点以下に急速に冷却して、複合材料をつく り、そして、該ダイから該複合材料を押出し固体複合材製品として押出しするこ とからなる、固体複合材料を押出しする方法。 2.背圧が押出しされた固体複合材製品に加えられる請求項1に記載の方法。 3.ダイキャビティー中の加熱された混合物に適用される背圧が約5〜約400 psiの問の圧力である請求項1に記載の方法。 4.ダイキャビティー中の加熱混合物に加えられる背圧が約20〜約400ps iの間の圧力である請求項1に記載の方法。 5.該実質的に均一な混合物が該バインダー材料の軟化点よりも少なくとも約2 5℃高い温度に加熱される請求項2に記載の方法。 6.該実質的に均一な混合物が該バインダー材料の軟化点よりも少なくとも約2 5℃高い温度に加熱される請求項3に記載の方法。 7.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約50〜約70重量%の活性炭粒、(b)約27.5重量%〜約37.5 重量%の潤滑油、(c)約4.0〜約22.5重量%の約0.1〜約250μm の直径を有しているバインダー粒、 そして任意付加的に存在することもあり得る、(d)約3重量%までの固体状態 の滑滑剤を含み、そして、 該活性炭粒がバインダー粒の軟化点よりも少なくとも約25℃高い軟化点を有し ている請求項1に記載の方法。 8.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約58重量%の約12×40のメッシュ寸法の活性炭粒、 (b)約35重量%の潤滑油、 (c)約5重量%の約−60メッシュのナイロンバインダー粒、 及び、 (d)約2重粒%のステアリン酸ナトリウムからなる請求項7に記載の方法。 9.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約20〜約60重量%の活性炭粒、(b)約27.5重量%〜約65重量 %の少なくとも均一100メッシュ寸法のミクロナイズ(超微粉砕)された二酸 化マンガン粒、及び (c)約12.5重量%〜約22.5重量%の約0.1μmと約250μmの間 の直径を有しているバインダー粒からなり、該活性炭位が該バインダー粒の軟化 点よりも、少なくとも25℃高い軟化点を有している請求項1に記載の方法。 10.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約45重量%の約50×200メッシュ寸法の活性炭粒、 (b)約40重量%のミクロナイズされた二酸化マンガン、及び (c)約15重量%のポリエチレンバインダー粒からなり、そして該活性炭粒が 該バインダー粒の軟化点よりも少なくとも約25℃高い軟化点を有している請求 項9に記載の方法。 11.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約30重量%の約50×200メッシュ寸法の活性炭粒、 (b)約55重量%のミクロナイズされた二酸化マンガン、及び (c)約15重量%のポリエチレンバインダー粒からなり、該活性炭粒が該バイ ンダー粒の軟化点よりも少なくとも約25℃高い軟化点を有している請求項9に 記載の方法。 12.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約80重量%〜約88.5重量%の活性炭粒、及び(b)約12.5〜約 20重量%の約0.1μmと約250μmの間の直径を有するバインダー粒から なり、そして該活性炭粒が該バインダー粒の軟化点よりも少なくとも約25℃高 い軟化点を有している請求項1に記載の方法。 13.該実質的に均一な混合物が、 (a)約65重量%の20×50メッシュの活性炭粒と約20重量%の80×3 25メッシュの活性炭粒、及び(b)約15重量%のポリエチレンバインダー粒 からなる請求項12に記載の方法。 14.押出しスクリューを収容しており、仕込み物人ロ及び仕込み物出口を有し ている押出機バレル、該押出機バレルの該仕込み物出口に取り付けられており、 入口端、押出し端、及び実質的に均一な断面を有するキャピティーを規定してお り、該断面が押出機バレルの内径の断面よりも実質的に小さくない押出しダイ、 バインダー材料の粒のある量と該バインダー材料の軟化点よりも実質的に高い軟 化点を有している主材料の粒のある量の実質的に均一な混合物を該ダイキャビテ ィーの入口端に強制射出する手段、 該ダイキャビティー内の該混合物を、該バインダー材料の軟化点よりも実質的に 高い温度であるが、該主材料の軟化点未満の温度に加熱する手段、 該ダイキャビティー内の該加熱された混合物に約5〜約400psiの間の圧力 を与える為の、該ダイキャビティーの外部の手段、および 一体的な固体複合材料を形成ざせるために、該ダイキャビティー内の該混合物を 、該バインダー材料の軟化点以下に急速に冷却させる手段、を含んでおり、それ により固体複合材料が該ダイキャビティーから押出される、該実質的に均一な混 合物から固体複合材料を押出し製造する装置。 15.該圧力を与える手段が、押出しされた固体複合材料に対し背圧力を加える 手段からなる請求項14に記載の装置。 16.押出された複合固体材料に対し背圧力を加える手段が、押出された複合固 体材料を取囲んでいる圧縮可能な環状ゴムドーナツからなる請求項15に記載の 装置。 17.押出された複合固体材料に対し背圧力を加える手段が、押出された複合固 体材料を取囲んでいる一連の螺旋状のゴムコイルを含む請求項15に記載の装置 。 18. (a)約50〜約70重量%の活性炭粒、(b)約27.5重量%〜約37.5 重量%の潤滑油、(c)約4.0重量%〜約22.5重量%の約0.1〜約25 0μmの直径を有するバインダー粒、および 任意付加的に存在することもできる、 (d)約3重量%までの固体状態の潤滑剤、の実質的に均一な混合物を含み、該 活性炭粒がバインダー粒の軟化点よりも少なくとも約25℃高い軟化点を有して いる押出し可能な組成物から形成される、押出された複合固体物品。 19. (a)約58重量%のメッシュ寸法約12×40の活性炭粒、(b)約35重量 %の潤滑油、 (c)約5重量%の約−60メッシュ寸法のナイロンバインダー粒、 及び、 (d)約2重量%のステアリン酸ナトリウム、の実質的に均一な混合物を含む組 成物から形成されるフィルターエレメントである請求項18の押出された複合固 体物品。 20.
