図1は、本開示の一実施の形態に係る感熱性記録媒体(感熱性記録媒体1)の断面構成を表したものである。図2は、記録層12を構成する各材料を模式的に表したものである。本実施の形態の感熱性記録媒体1は、熱により可逆的に情報の記録や消去が可能な可逆性記録媒体であり、例えば、支持基材11上に設けられた記録状態および消去状態を可逆的に変化させることが可能な記録層12に、面内に凹凸形状を有する保護部材13が積層されたものである。なお、図1は、感熱性記録媒体1の断面構成を模式的に表したものであり、実際の寸法、形状とは異なる場合がある。
支持基材11は、記録層12を支持するためのものである。支持基材11は、例えば、耐熱性に優れ、且つ、平面方向の寸法安定性に優れた材料により構成されている。支持基材11は、光透過性および非光透過性のどちらの特性を有していてもよい。支持基材11は、例えば、ウェハ等の剛性を有する基板でもよいし、可撓性を有する薄層ガラス、フィルムあるいは紙等により構成してもよい。支持基材11として可撓性基板を用いることにより、フレキシブル(折り曲げ可能)な感熱性記録媒体を実現できる。
本実施の形態の感熱性記録媒体1は、例えば、塗布法を用いて製造することができる。なお、以下に説明する製造方法は一例であり、その他の方法を用いて製造してもよい。
本実施の形態の感熱性記録媒体1では、例えば、以下のようにして記録を行うことができる。
前述したように、カスタマイゼーションに対する顧客ニーズの高まりから、オンデマンド加飾技術の開発が進められている。その1つとして、レーザを用いて非接触で所望の領域を加熱することによって情報の記録が可能な感熱性記録媒体が注目されている。感熱性記録媒体は、例えば、電子供与性を有する呈色性化合物と、電子受容性を有する顕色剤と、マトリクスポリマーとから構成されている。更に、感熱性記録媒体は、光熱変換剤を加えることで、特定の波長の光を照射することにより記録が可能となる。上記感熱性記録媒体は、例えば交通系ICカードやバーコードラベル等への印字の他に、スマートフォン等の電子機器や電子たばこ等の筐体表面の加飾や建造物の内装や外装等への用途が想定される。

図5は、本開示の変形例1に係る感熱性記録媒体(感熱性記録媒体2)の断面構成を模式的に表したものである。感熱性記録媒体2は、例えば、支持基材11上に、記録状態および消去状態を可逆的に変化させることが可能な記録層21が配置されたものであり、この記録層21が複数(ここでは3つ)の層(第1層22,第2層23,第3層24)の積層構造である点が上記実施の形態とは異なる。記録層21を構成する各層22,23,24の間には、それぞれ、断熱層25,26が設けられている。
記録層21は、熱により可逆的に情報の記録や消去が可能なものであり、上記のように、例えば、第1層22、第2層23および第3層24が支持基材11側からこの順に積層された構成を有する。第1層22、第2層23および第3層24は、互いに異なる色を呈する呈色性化合物121(121A,121B,121C)と、各呈色性化合物121A,121B,121Cに対応する顕・減色剤122(122A,122B,122C)と、互いに異なる波長域の光を吸収して発熱する光熱変換剤123(123A,123B,123C)とを、例えば、高分子材料124に分散されて形成されている。
本変形例の感熱性記録媒体2では、例えば、以下のようにして記録および消去を行うことができる。なお、ここでは記録層21は、上述した、それぞれ、シアン色、マゼンタ色、イエロー色を呈する第1層22、第2層23および第3層24が積層されている場合を例に説明する。
以上のように本変形例では、例えば、それぞれ、イエロー色、マゼンタ色またはシアン色を呈する呈色性化合物121(121A,121B,121C)と、対応する顕・減色剤122(122A,122B,122C)と、互いに異なる吸収波長を有する光熱変換剤123(123A,123B,123C)とを含む3種の層(第1層22、第2層23および第3層24)を形成し、これを積層させるようにした。これにより、優れた耐久性を有すると共に、多色での記録が可能な感熱性記録媒体2を提供することが可能となる。
上記変形例1では、記録層21として、互いに異なる色を呈する複数の層(第1層22、第2層23および第3層24)を形成し、これらを積層した多層構造を有する例を示したが、例えば単層構造でも多色表示が可能な感熱性記録媒体を実現することができる。
図7は、本開示の変形例3に係る感熱性記録媒体(感熱性記録媒体4)の断面構成の一部を模式的に表したものである。本変形例の感熱性記録媒体4は、例えば、円柱状の支持基材41の表面に記録層42および面内に凹凸形状を有する保護部材13が設けられたものである。上記実施の形態および変形例1,2では、表面が平坦な記録層12(あるいは、記録層21,31)上に記録層12を設けた例を示したが、保護部材13は、図7に示したように、曲面を有する記録層42上に設けるようにしてもよい。
次に、上記実施の形態および変形例1~3において説明した感熱性記録媒体(感熱性記録媒体1~4)の適用例について説明する。ただし、以下で説明する適用例の構成はあくまで一例であり、その構成は適宜変更可能である。上記感熱性記録媒体1~4は、各種の電子機器あるいは服飾品の一部に適用可能である。例えば、いわゆるウェアラブル端末として、例えば時計(腕時計)、鞄、衣服、帽子、ヘルメット、ヘッドフォン、眼鏡および靴等の服飾品の一部に適用可能である。この他、例えば、ヘッドアップディスプレイおよびヘッドマウントディスプレイ等のウェアラブルディスプレイや、ポータブル音楽プレイヤーおよび携帯型ゲーム機等の持ち運び可能なポータブルデバイス、ロボット、あるいは、冷蔵庫および洗濯機等、電子機器の種類は特に限定されない。また、電子機器や服飾品に限らず、例えば、加飾部材として、加熱式たばこや電子たばこ等のホルダやケースの外装、自動車の内装や外装、建造物の壁等の内装や外装、机等の家具の外装等にも適用することができる。
図8Aは、電子時計100(腕時計一体型電子機器)の外観を表したものである。この電子時計は、例えば文字盤(文字情報表示部分)110と、保護ガラス120と、バンド部130とを有しており、文字盤110が例えば記録層12に、保護ガラス120が保護部材13に相当する。文字盤110には、上述した記録層12の記録および消去方法により、例えば様々な文字や図柄の書き替えが可能である。バンド部130は、例えば腕などに装着可能な部位である。このバンド部130にも記録層12を設けることで、様々な色柄を表示することができ、バンド部130の意匠を変更することができる。
図9Aは、スマートフォン200の前面の外観構成を、図9Bは、図9Aに示したスマートフォンの背面の外観構成を表したものである。このスマートフォンは、例えば、表示部210および非表示部220と、筐体230とを備えている。背面側の筐体230の例えば一面には、筐体230の外装部材として、例えば感熱性記録媒体1等が設けられており、これにより、様々な色柄を表示することができる。なお、ここでは、スマートフォンを例に挙げたが、これに限らず、例えば、ノート型パーソナルコンピュータ(PC)やタブレットPC等にも適用することができる。
図10Aは、自動車300の上面の外観を、図10Bは、自動車の側面の外観を表したものである。本開示の感熱性記録媒体1等は、例えば、ボンネット311、バンパー312、ルーフ313、トランクカバー314、フロントドア315、リアドア316およびリアバンパー317等の車体に設けることで各部に様々な情報や色柄を表示することができる。また、自動車の内装、例えば、ハンドルやダッシュボード等に感熱性記録媒体1等路設けることで、様々な色柄を表示することができる。
図11は、加熱式たばこ400のたばこホルダ410およびケース420の外観を表したものである。本開示の感熱性記録媒体1等は、例えば加熱式たばこのたばこホルダ410およびケース420等の筐体表面に設けることで、各部に様々な情報や色柄の表示およびその書き換えを行うことが可能となる。
図12は、3D印刷物500の構成を表す模式図である。3D印刷物500は、見る角度によって絵柄が変化したり、立体感が得られる印刷物である。3D印刷物500は、例えば、かまぼこ型の凸レンズがライン状に連なったレンチキュラーシート510と、凸レンズのピッチに合わせてライン状に合成された画像が印刷された基材520とが貼り合わされたものである。このレンチキュラーシート510に本開示の感熱性記録媒体1の保護部材13を、基材520に記録層12を用いることで、様々な情報や色柄の表示およびその書き換えを行うことが可能な3D印刷物を構成することが可能となる。

前記第1層および前記第2層は、それぞれ互いに吸収波長の異なる光熱変換剤を含む、前記(1)乃至(5)のうちのいずれか1つに記載の感熱性記録媒体。
(7)
前記呈色性化合物はロイコ色素である、前記(1)乃至(6)のうちのいずれか1つに記載の感熱性記録媒体。
(8)
前記記録層は、前記顕色剤として、前記呈色性化合物の発色および消色が可能な顕・減色剤を含む、前記(1)乃至(7)のうちのいずれか1つに記載の感熱性記録媒体。
(9)
前記記録層は曲面を有し、前記保護部材は前記曲面上に設けられている、前記(1)乃至(8)のうちのいずれか1つに記載の感熱性記録媒体。
(10)
少なくとも、支持基材上に感熱性記録媒体が設けられた一の面を有し、
前記感熱性記録媒体は、
電子供与性を有する呈色性化合物、電子受容性を有する顕色剤、光熱変換剤および高分子材料をそれぞれ含む第1層および第2層と、前記第1層と前記第2層との間に設けられた複数の層からなる断熱層とを含む記録層と、
前記記録層に積層されると共に、面内に凹凸形状を有する保護部材と
を備えた外装部材。

- 電子供与性を有する呈色性化合物、電子受容性を有する顕色剤、光熱変換剤および高分子材料をそれぞれ含む第1層および第2層と、前記第1層と前記第2層との間に設けられた複数の層からなる断熱層とを含む記録層と、
前記記録層に積層されると共に、面内に凹凸形状を有する保護部材と
を備えた感熱性記録媒体。 - 面内において前記保護部材の表面から前記記録層までの距離が異なる、請求項1に記載の感熱性記録媒体。
- 前記凹凸形状は、凸部と凹部との差が100μm以上7mm以下である、請求項1に記載の感熱性記録媒体。
- 前記保護部材は面内に曲率を有する、請求項1に記載の感熱性記録媒体。
