(2)前記ピニング層に含まれる磁性粒子のキュリー温度をPTc[K]とし、前記L10型結晶構造を有する合金のキュリー温度をMTcとすると、式

を満たすことを特徴とする(1)に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体。
(3)前記ピニング層は、厚さが1nm以上10nm以下であることを特徴とする(1)または(2)に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体。
(4)前記基板上に、前記下地層と、前記磁性層と、前記ピニング層をこの順で有することを特徴とする(1)~(3)のいずれか1項に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体。
(5)(1)~(4)のいずれか1項に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体を有することを特徴とする磁気記憶装置。

を満たすと、磁気情報を書き込んだ直後の磁性層5における磁性粒子の磁化反転をより効果的に抑制することができる。

FePt合金:~750K
SmCo5合金:~1000K
CoCrPt系合金:400~600K
これらの値から、ピニング層6中の磁性粒子の組成及びキュリー温度を決定することができる。実用的な磁性材料の中で、最もキュリー温度が高いのはCoであることから、PTc及びPTc-MTcが最大となるのは、ピニング層6中の磁性粒子として、Co粒子を用いる場合である。PTc-MTcが大きい程、磁気情報を書き込んだ直後の磁性層5における磁性粒子の磁化反転を抑制する効果を保証することができるため、ピニング層6中の磁性粒子がCo粒子であることが好ましい。
本実施形態の磁気記憶装置の構成例について説明する。
以下のようにして、アシスト磁気記録媒体100(図1参照)を作製した。
ピニング層6を構成する材料及び膜厚を、表1に示すように変更した以外は、実施例1と同様に、アシスト磁気記録媒体を得た。
ピニング層を形成した後の基板を取り出し、AFMを用いて、ピニング層の算術平均粗さRaを測定した。
磁気ヘッド102(図3参照)を用いて、線記録密度1500kFCIのオールワンパターン信号をアシスト磁気記録媒体に記録し、ノイズとSNRを測定した。ここで、レーザーダイオードに投入するパワーを、トラックプロファイルの半値幅(トラック幅MWW)が60nmとなるように、調整した。

Claims (4)
- 基板上に、下地層と、L10型結晶構造を有する合金を含む磁性層とをこの順で有し、
前記磁性層に接しているピニング層をさらに有し、
前記ピニング層は、磁性粒子と粒界部を含むグラニュラー構造を有し、
前記磁性粒子は、Coを含む粒子であり、
前記粒界部は、Y2O3及び/又はランタノイドの酸化物を含み、
前記ピニング層に含まれる磁性粒子のキュリー温度をP Tc [K]とし、前記L1 0 型結晶構造を有する合金のキュリー温度をM Tc [K]とすると、式
P Tc -M Tc ≧200
を満たすことを特徴とするアシスト磁気記録媒体。 - 前記ピニング層は、厚さが1nm以上10nm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体。
- 前記基板上に、前記下地層と、前記磁性層と、前記ピニング層をこの順で有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体。
- 請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のアシスト磁気記録媒体を有することを特徴とする磁気記憶装置。
