図1から図6は、本発明の一実施例に係る車両用内燃機関を示す図である。図1から図6において、上下前後左右方向は、車両に設置された状態の車両用内燃機関の上下前後左右方向とし、前後方向に対して直交する方向が左右方向、車両用内燃機関の高さ方向が上下方向である。
図1において、車両1は、左サイドフレーム2Lおよび右サイドフレーム2Rを備えており、左サイドフレーム2Lおよび右サイドフレーム2Rは、車両1の幅方向に離隔し、車両1の前後方向に延びている。
触媒ケース25の軸線L3が気筒11Aの軸線L2と平行となるように触媒ケース25を設置した場合、フランジ部11Fと触媒ケース25との干渉を防ぐために、触媒ケース25がエンジン4から前方に離れてしまう。

- 複数の気筒を有し、前記気筒の配列方向の端部に変速機が連結されるフランジ部が設けられたシリンダブロックと、前記シリンダブロックの上部に取付けられ、前記気筒から排出される排気ガスを集合する排気マニホールドが内部に形成されたシリンダヘッドとを備え、
前記シリンダヘッドが、前記気筒の配列方向の中央部に形成され、前記排気マニホールドから排気ガスを排出する排気ガス出口と、前記排気ガス出口の周囲に設けられ、過給機の排気ガス導入部が取付けられる取付面とを有し、
