Description
導電性基体と、該導電性基体の表面に設けられた導電性高分子層とを有する陰極と、
弁金属からなる基体と、該基体の表面に設けられた上記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層とを有し、該誘電体層と上記陰極の導電性高分子層とが空間を開けて対向するように配置されている陽極と、
上記空間に充填されているイオン伝導性電解質と、
を備え、上記陽極と上記陰極との間に電圧を印加することにより、上記イオン伝導性電解質と接触している上記陰極の導電性高分子層がレドックス容量を発現する電解コンデンサであって、
上記陰極における導電性基体と導電性高分子層との接触抵抗が1Ωcm2以下である
ことを特徴とする電解コンデンサに関する。
導電性基体の表面に導電性高分子層を上記導電性基体と上記導電性高分子層との接触抵抗が1Ωcm2以下になるように形成し、上記電解コンデンサのための陰極を得る、陰極形成工程、
弁金属からなる基体の表面を酸化して上記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層を形成し、上記電解コンデンサのための陽極を得る、陽極形成工程、及び、
上記陰極の導電性高分子層と上記陽極の誘電体層とを空間を開けて対向させ、上記空間にイオン伝導性電解質を充填する、電解質充填工程
を含むことを特徴とする電解コンデンサの製造方法に関する。この方法により、陰極の導電性高分子層が信頼性良くレドックス容量を発現する電解コンデンサが得られる。
本発明の電解コンデンサにおける陰極は、導電性基体と、該導電性基体の表面に設けられた導電性高分子層とを有する。導電性基体としては、導電性高分子層と導電性基体との接触抵抗を1Ωcm2以下に設定することが可能であれば、集電体として機能する基体を特に限定なく使用することができる。このような導電性基体は、1層の導電層から成っていても良く、複数層の異なる導電層から成っていても良い。複数層から成っている場合には、導電層間に絶縁層が存在していても、絶縁層の一部が破壊されて導電層間が導通していれば、導電性基体として使用することができる。例えば、従来の電解コンデンサにおいて陰極のために使用されている、アルミニウム、タンタル、ニオブ、チタン、ジルコニウム等の弁金属の箔、或いは、これらの弁金属箔に化学的或いは電気化学的なエッチング処理を施すことにより表面積を増大させた箔を、導電性基体として使用することができ、アルミニウム-銅合金等の合金を導電性基体とすることもできる。弁金属箔の表面には、一般に自然酸化皮膜が存在しているが、これに加えて、ホウ酸アンモニウム水溶液、アジピン酸アンモニウム水溶液、リン酸アンモニウム水溶液等の化成液を使用した化成処理により形成した化成酸化皮膜が存在していても、酸化皮膜の表面に無機導電性材料を含む無機導電層を設ける過程で、酸化皮膜の一部を破壊し、導電層と弁金属箔とを導通させて、陰極における導電性基体と導電性高分子層との接触抵抗を1Ωcm2以下に調整することにより、導電性基体として使用することができる。上記無機導電層を形成する無機導電性材料の種類及び無機導電層の形成方法には、陰極における導電性基体と導電性高分子層との接触抵抗を1Ωcm2以下に調整することができれば、特別な限定がない。例えば、炭素、チタン、白金、金、銀、コバルト、ニッケル、鉄等の無機導電性材料を真空蒸着、スパッタリング、イオンプレーティング、塗布、電解めっき、無電解めっき等の手段により酸化皮膜上に積層することにより無機導電層を設ける過程で、酸化皮膜の一部を破壊し、無機導電層と弁金属箔とを導通させることができる。
本発明の電解コンデンサにおける陽極は、アルミニウム、タンタル、ニオブ、チタン、ジルコニウム等の弁金属からなる基体と、該基体の表面に設けられた上記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層とを有する。陽極のための基体としては、弁金属の箔に公知の方法により化学的或いは電気化学的なエッチング処理を施すことにより表面積を増大させたものが好ましく、エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔が特に好ましい。基体の表面の誘電体層は、基体にホウ酸アンモニウム水溶液、アジピン酸アンモニウム水溶液、リン酸アンモニウム水溶液等の化成液を使用した化成処理を施す公知の方法により形成することができる。
この工程では、上記陰極形成工程において得られた、導電性基体と該導電性基体の表面に設けられた導電性高分子層とを有する陰極と、上記陽極形成工程において得られた、弁金属からなる基体と該基体の表面に設けられた上記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層とを有する陽極とを、陰極の導電性高分子層と陽極の誘電体層とが空間を開けて対向するように配置して組み合わせた後、上記空間にイオン伝導性電解質を充填する。
a)自然酸化皮膜を備えたエッチドアルミニウム箔を導電性基体として使用
比較例1
エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔を投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、自然酸化アルミニウム皮膜を表面に有するアルミニウム箔(導電性基体A)を得た後、自然酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Aの抵抗として求めたところ、1.2×10-1Ωcm2の値が得られた。
比較例2
エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔の表面に、皮膜耐圧5Vの酸化アルミニウム皮膜を形成し、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に0.232gm-2の量のカーボンを蒸着して、導電性基体Bを得た。次いで、カーボン蒸着膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Bの抵抗として求めたところ、26.0Ωcm2の値が得られた。
実施例1
エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔の表面に、皮膜耐圧5Vの酸化アルミニウム皮膜を形成し、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に0.431gm-2の量のカーボンを蒸着して、導電性基体Cを得た。次いで、カーボン蒸着膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Cの抵抗として求めたところ、5.5Ωcm2の値が得られた。
実施例2
エッチング処理を施していないアルミニウム箔を、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、自然酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に炭化チタン蒸着膜を形成して、導電性基体Dを得た。次いで、炭化チタン蒸着膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Dの抵抗として求めたところ、2.4×10-1Ωcm2の値が得られた。
実施例3
エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔を、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、自然酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に、黒鉛、カーボンブラック及びバインダを含むスラリーを塗布して乾燥することによりカーボン塗布膜を形成して、導電性基体Eを得た。次いで、カーボン塗布膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Eの抵抗として求めたところ、7.1×10-3Ωcm2の値が得られた。
実施例4
エッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔の表面に、皮膜耐圧5Vの酸化アルミニウム皮膜を形成し、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に炭化チタン蒸着膜を形成して、導電性基体Fを得た。次いで、炭化チタン蒸着膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Fの抵抗として求めたところ、8.7×10-3Ωcm2の値が得られた。
実施例4において使用した導電性基体Fの炭化チタン蒸着膜の表面に、比較例1において使用した化学重合用重合液を塗布し、150℃で20分間乾燥して化学重合を進行させ、炭化チタン蒸着膜上のPEDOT層の厚みが約5μmである陰極を得た。この陰極のPEDOT層の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法に従い、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行ったところ、導電性基体FとPEDOT層との接触抵抗は6.4×10-3Ωcm2であった。
実施例6
表層のみにエッチング処理を施したアルミニウム箔を、投影面積2cm2に打ち抜き、自然酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面にカーボン蒸着膜を形成して導電性基体Gを得た。次いで、カーボン蒸着膜の表面に、図1を参照して説明した方法と同様に、カーボンペースト及び銀ペーストを介して銅箔を固定し、銅箔とアルミニウム箔との間について交流インピーダンス測定を行った。Cole-Coleプロットの実数成分の値を導電性基体Gの抵抗として求めたところ、2.2×10-3Ωcm2の値が得られた。
上述したように、陰極におけるPEDOT層のレドックス容量を信頼性良く発現させるためには、陰極における導電性基体とPEDOT層との接触抵抗を1Ωcm2以下に設定する必要があるが、レドックス容量の発現量は、電解液における溶質の種類及びその濃度によっても変化すると考えられる。そこで、以下の実験を行った。
γ-ブチロラクトンにジカルボン酸であるフタル酸と対カチオンを与える化合物としての1,2,3,4-テトラメチルイミダゾリニウム塩とを溶解させて電解液を調製した。フタル酸の濃度を0.1M~1.2Mの範囲で変更し、フタル酸と1,2,3,4-テトラメチルイミダゾリニウム塩の濃度を同一にした。得られた電解液に、実施例1で用いた陰極(PEDOT層と導電性基体Cとを有する陰極)を導入し、30℃の条件下で120Hzにおける陰極の容量を測定した。
対カチオンを与える化合物として、1,2,3,4-テトラメチルイミダゾリニウム塩に代えてエチルジメチルアミンを使用し、フタル酸の濃度を0.1M~1.3Mの範囲で変更し、フタル酸とエチルジメチルアミンの濃度を同一にした点を除いて、実施例7の手順を繰り返した。
対カチオンを与える化合物として、1,2,3,4-テトラメチルイミダゾリニウム塩に代えてトリエチルアミンを使用し、フタル酸の濃度を0.1M~1.3Mの範囲で変更し、フタル酸とトリエチルアミンの濃度を同一にした点を除いて、実施例7の手順を繰り返した。
対カチオンを与える化合物として、1,2,3,4-テトラメチルイミダゾリニウム塩に代えてジエチルアミンを使用し、フタル酸の濃度を0.1M~1.1Mの範囲で変更し、フタル酸とジエチルアミンの濃度を同一にした点を除いて、実施例7の手順を繰り返した。
Claims (5)
- 導電性基体と、該導電性基体の表面に設けられた導電性高分子層とを有する陰極と、
弁金属からなる基体と、該基体の表面に設けられた前記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層とを有し、該誘電体層と前記陰極の導電性高分子層とが空間を開けて対向するように配置されている陽極と、
前記空間に充填されているイオン伝導性電解質と、
を備え、前記陽極と前記陰極との間に電圧を印加することにより、前記イオン伝導性電解質と接触している前記陰極の導電性高分子層がレドックス容量を発現する電解コンデンサであって、
前記陰極における導電性基体と導電性高分子層との接触抵抗が0.9Ωcm2以下である
ことを特徴とする電解コンデンサ。 - 前記陰極における導電性基体と導電性高分子層との接触抵抗が0.06Ωcm2以下である、請求項1に記載の電解コンデンサ。
- 前記導電性基体が、酸化アルミニウム皮膜を備えたアルミニウム箔と、前記酸化アルミニウム皮膜の表面に設けられた無機導電性材料を含む無機導電層と、を含み、
前記無機導電層と前記アルミニウム箔とが導通しており、
前記導電性高分子層が、前記無機導電層の表面に設けられている、請求項1又は2に記載の電解コンデンサ。 - 前記無機導電性材料が、カーボン、チタン、窒化チタン、炭化チタン及びニッケルから成る群から選択された少なくとも1種の材料である、請求項3に記載の電解コンデンサ。
- 電解コンデンサの製造方法であって、
導電性基体の表面に導電性高分子層を前記導電性基体と前記導電性高分子層との接触抵抗が0.9Ωcm2以下になるように形成し、前記電解コンデンサのための陰極を得る、陰極形成工程、
弁金属からなる基体の表面を酸化して前記弁金属の酸化物からなる誘電体層を形成し、前記電解コンデンサのための陽極を得る、陽極形成工程、及び、
前記陰極の導電性高分子層と前記陽極の誘電体層とを空間を開けて対向させ、前記空間にイオン伝導性電解質を充填する、電解質充填工程
を含むことを特徴とする電解コンデンサの製造方法。
