Claims (5)
- 先端側から後端側へ向かって軸線に沿って延びる筒状の主体金具と、
前記主体金具の内側に絶縁保持された中心電極と、
前記主体金具に電気的に接続され、前記中心電極と自身の端部との間に火花ギャップを形成する接地電極と、
前記主体金具の先端部に溶融部を介して接続され、前記中心電極および前記接地電極の端部を先端側から覆うと共に、前記接地電極よりも先端側に複数の貫通孔が形成されたキャップ部と、を備える点火プラグであって、
前記軸線を含む断面において、
前記キャップ部は、前記接地電極の端部の先端を通り前記軸線に垂直な第1仮想直線と、前記複数の貫通孔の最も先端側の内側開口端の後端を通り前記軸線に垂直な第2仮想直線と、の間の領域に、
前記キャップ部の外面から内面までの最短距離が、後端側から先端側へ向かうにつれて大きくなる拡大部が存在し、
前記拡大部は、前記溶融部の先端から前記内側開口端の後端まで延びており、
前記拡大部に囲まれた領域の、前記軸線に垂直な断面積は、後端側から先端側へ向かうにつれて小さくなる点火プラグ。 - 前記軸線を含む断面において、前記拡大部の内面を示す線が、略同じ曲率半径からなる請求項1記載の点火プラグ。
- 前記軸線を含む断面において、前記最短距離は、前記キャップ部の内面の先端で最も小さくなる請求項1又は2に記載の点火プラグ。
- 前記軸線を含む断面において、前記最短距離は、前記キャップ部の外面の先端で最も小さくなる請求項3記載の点火プラグ。
- 前記キャップ部の外面の先端は平面をなす請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の点火プラグ。
