膨張剤を有する該組成物から調製された発泡材料の密度は、同じ配合および膨張剤だが該改質剤成分を含有しない組成物から調製された発泡材料の密度より少なくとも1%低い、発泡性組成物である。
別段の記載がある場合、文脈から黙示的である場合、または当技術分野において慣例的である場合を除き、全ての部分およびパーセントは重量に基づく。米国特許の慣例を目的として、いかなる参照特許、特許出願、または刊行物の内容も、特に合成技術、生成物および加工設計、ポリマー、触媒、定義(本開示において明確に提供されるいかなる定義とも矛盾しない限り)、ならびに当技術分野における一般知識の開示に関して、参照によりそれらの全体が組み込まれる(またはその均等の米国版が参照により組み込まれる)。
本発明は、発泡(または膨張)剤、本組成物の向上した発泡性を提供するために効果的な量で存在する成分と組み合わされた、高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE)と、改質剤成分と、任意選択的にカーボンブラックと、任意選択の添加剤と、から成る、ワイヤおよび光ケーブルを含むケーブルのための外被ならびに絶縁体を含む発泡物品を製造するための、発泡性または発泡材料を対象とする。本組成物は、向上した加工性および押出成形のための低下した粘度をさらに提供する。
ポリマーブレンド組成物は、高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE)ポリマーから成るエチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーを含む。本明細書において使用される場合、「高密度ポリエチレン」ポリマーおよび「HDPE」ポリマーという用語は、0.941g/cm3以上の密度を有するエチレンのホモポリマーまたはコポリマーを指す。「中密度ポリエチレン」ポリマーおよび「MDPE」ポリマーという用語は、0.926〜0.940g/cm3の密度を有するエチレンのコポリマーを指す。「線状低密度ポリエチレン」ポリマーおよび「LLDPE」ポリマーという用語は、0.915〜0.925g/cm3の密度を有するエチレンのコポリマーを指す。「低密度ポリエチレン」ポリマーおよび「LDPE」ポリマーという用語は、0.915〜0.925g/cm3の密度を有するエチレンのコポリマーを指す。
複数の実施形態において、エチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーは、単峰性高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE)ポリマーである。
複数の実施形態において、エチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーは、多峰性(即ち、二峰性)HDPEである。本明細書で使用される「多峰性」という用語は、GPC曲線内のMWDが2種以上の成分ポリマーを示し、1つの成分ポリマーが、成分ポリマーのMWDに対するこぶ状部、肩部、または尾部としてさえも存在し得ることを意味する。多峰性HDPEポリマーは、1つ、2つ、またはそれよりも多くの異なる触媒から、および/または2種以上の異なる重合条件下で調製される。多峰性HDPEポリマーは、少なくともより低い分子量成分(LMW)およびより高い分子量(HMW)成分を含む。各成分は、異なる触媒を用いて、および/または異なる重合条件下で調製される。「多(multi)」という接頭辞は、ポリマー内に存在する異なるポリマー成分の数に関する。HDPEポリマーの多峰性(または二峰性)は、既知の方法に従って決定され得る。典型的に、多峰性HDPEは二峰性HDPEである。
エチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーは、本明細書に記載の化合物の選択群の改質剤成分とブレンドされる。改質剤成分は、ポリマー組成物を改質し、発泡性を改善するように、エチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーとの組み合わせで機能する。
複数の実施形態において、本組成物は、膨張または発泡剤をさらに含む。本開示において、用語「膨張剤」および「発泡剤」は同義であり、単独または他の物質との組み合わせで組成物を発泡性にして気泡構造体を生成することができる物質を意味するために互換的に使用され得る。
本組成物は、ケーブル外被に一般的に使用される非伝導性カーボンブラックを任意選択的に含有し得る。
本組成物は、未希釈またはマスターバッチの一部として従来の量で一般的に添加される、1種以上の添加剤を任意選択的に含有し得る。
本発明の組成物は、押出成形または膨張した熱可塑性ポリマー発泡体、および膨張により形成された成形物品を形成するために使用され得る。
本発明の組成物は、発泡シート、ファイバ、成形品、および押出成形部品を含むがこれらに限定されない、様々な物品またはそれらの構成要素部品もしくは部分を調製するために使用され得る。
DMDA−1250 NTは、CONTINUUM(商標)DMDA−1250 NT 7としてThe Dow Chemical Companyから入手可能な、0.955g/cm3の密度および1.5g/10分(190℃/2.16kg)の溶融指数(MI、I2)を有するUnipol気相二峰性HDPEである。
DFDB−3580 NTは、The Dow Chemical Companyから入手可能な、0.935g/cm3の密度および0.6g/10分(190℃/2.16kg)の溶融指数(MI、I2)を有するUnipol気相単峰性MDPEである。
DGDA−6944は、The Dow Chemical Companyから入手可能な、0.965g/cm3の密度および8.0g/10分(190℃/2.16kg)の溶融指数(MI、I2)を有するUnipol気相単峰性HDPEである。
GRSN−2420 NTは、The Dow Chemical Companyから入手可能な、0.924g/cm3の密度および20g/10分(190℃/2.16kg)の溶融指数(MI、I2)を有するUnipol気相単峰性HDPEである。
化学膨張マスターバッチとして使用されるアゾジカーボンアミド(AZO)は、Rita−ChemによるCellcom AC7000F、またはGalata ChemicalによるCelogen AZ−130という商品名で市販されている。
Irganox 1010は、Ciby Specialty Chemicals Inc.から市販されている抗酸化剤である。
PEG 20,000は、Clariant Corporation,Charlotte,N.C.から商品名Polyglykol(登録商標)で市販されている、20,000の分子量を有するポリエチレングリコール(PEG)である。
DFNC−0037BKは、The Dow Chemical Companyから市販されている、ペレット状の45%のカーボンブラックマスターバッチ(「CBM」)(粒径:平均20ミリミクロン(0.02ミクロン))である。

[1] 発泡性組成物であって、ブレンド物として、
A.高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE)を含むエチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーと、
B.1,000〜100,000の分子量を有するポリエチレングリコール(PEG)、1,000〜100,000の分子量を有するポリプロピレングリコール(PPG)、ジエチレングリコール(DEG)、パラフィンワックス、極性ポリエチレンコポリマー、ポリエチレン/シランコポリマー、トリエタノールアミン(TEA)、およびそれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される改質剤成分と、
C.任意選択的に、膨張剤と、
D.任意選択的に、カーボンブラックと、を含み、
膨張剤を有する前記組成物から調製された発泡材料の密度は、同じ配合および膨張剤だが前記改質剤成分を含有しない組成物から調製された発泡材料の密度より少なくとも1%低い、発泡性組成物。
[2] A.20〜99.9重量%の前記エチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーと、B.0.1〜2重量%の前記改質剤成分と、を含み、前記重量百分率(重量%)は、前記組成物の全重量に基づく、[1]に記載の組成物。
[3] C.0超〜2重量%の前記膨張剤、および/またはD.0超〜3重量%の前記カーボンブラックのうちの少なくとも1種をさらに含む、[2]に記載の組成物。
[4] アゾジカーボンアミド、アゾジイソブチロニトリル、ベンゼンスルホ−ヒドラジド、4,4−オキシベンゼンスルホニルセミ−カルバジド、p−トルエンスルホニルセミ−カルバジド、バリウムアゾジカルボキシレート、N,N′−ジメチル−N,N′−ジニトロソテレフタルアミド、トリヒドラジノトリアジン、および重炭酸ナトリウムから成る群から選択される化学膨張剤を含む、[1]に記載の組成物。
[5] 二酸化炭素、窒素、C 2 〜C 9 炭化水素、ハロゲン化炭化水素、およびそれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される物理膨張剤を含む、[1]に記載の組成物。
[6] 前記改質剤成分を含まずに作製された前記組成物より、少なくとも1%〜最大15%低い粘度を有する、[1]に記載の組成物。
[7] 前記改質剤成分は、1,000〜100,000の分子量を有するポリエチレングリコール(PEG)である、[1]に記載の組成物。
[8] 前記HDPEと、前記改質剤成分と、任意選択的に前記化学発泡/膨張剤と、任意選択的にカーボンブラックと、任意選択的に1種以上の添加剤とのブレンド物から本質的に成る、[1]に記載の組成物。
[9] [1]に記載の組成物から作製されるポリマー発泡物品。
[10] ポリマー発泡材料を調製する方法であって、[1]に記載の組成物を押出成形することと、前記組成物がポリマー発泡物品に膨張することを可能にすることと、を含み、a)前記組成物は、前記押出成形の前に膨張剤を含むか、またはb)前記組成物は、前記押出成形の間に膨張剤と組み合わされる、方法。
HDPE材料の低下した密度に加え、改質剤成分(例えば、PEG)の添加は、改質剤成分を含まずに作製された同じ樹脂配合物と比較して、HDPE組成物の粘度を低下させた。
Claims (9)
- 発泡性組成物であって、ブレンド物として、
A.二峰性高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE)を80〜99.9重量%含むエチレン系熱可塑性ポリマーと、
B.1,000〜100,000の分子量を有するポリエチレングリコール(PEG)から選択される改質剤成分と、
C.0超〜2重量%の膨張剤と、
D.任意選択的に、カーボンブラックと、を含み、前記重量百分率(重量%)が組成物の全重量に基づくものである、発泡性組成物。 - B.前記改質剤成分を0.1〜2重量%含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記カーボンブラックを0超〜3重量%含む、請求項2に記載の組成物。
- アゾジカーボンアミド、アゾジイソブチロニトリル、ベンゼンスルホ−ヒドラジド、4,4−オキシベンゼンスルホニルセミ−カルバジド、p−トルエンスルホニルセミ−カルバジド、バリウムアゾジカルボキシレート、N,N′−ジメチル−N,N′−ジニトロソテレフタルアミド、トリヒドラジノトリアジン、および重炭酸ナトリウムから成る群から選択される化学膨張剤を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 二酸化炭素、窒素、C2〜C9炭化水素、ハロゲン化炭化水素、およびそれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される物理膨張剤を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記改質剤成分が5,000〜50,000の分子量を有するポリエチレングリコール(PEG)であり、前記膨張剤がアゾジカーボンアミドである、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記HDPEと、前記改質剤成分と、化学膨張剤と、任意選択的にカーボンブラックと、任意選択的に1種以上の添加剤とのブレンド物から本質的に成る、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 請求項1に記載の組成物から作製されるポリマー発泡物品。
- ポリマー発泡材料を調製する方法であって、請求項1に記載の組成物を押出成形することと、前記組成物が前記ポリマー発泡物品に膨張することを可能にすることと、を含み、
a)前記組成物は、前記押出成形の前に膨張剤を含むか、
または
b)前記組成物は、前記押出成形の間に膨張剤と組み合わされる、方法。
