Description
本実施の形態では、前記のように揺動して、各気筒3の他側の吸気バルブ10を動作させる出力アーム52の揺動範囲が、可変リフト機構4によって変更されるようになっており、これにより他側の吸気バルブ10のリフト量が連続的に変化する。可変リフト機構4は、前記図2の他、図3〜5にも示すように、ロッカシャフト41、コントロールシャフト42および各気筒3のアームアッセンブリ50を備えている。
本実施の形態では、前記のように可変リフト機構4を介して吸気バルブ10を駆動するカム61,62が、カム切替機構6によって切り替えられる。すなわち、前記図2,4に表れているように吸気カムシャフト12には、各気筒3に設けられた固定カム12aの軸線X方向の他側(図2、4の右側)に隣接して、プロフィールの異なる2つのカム61,62を有する円筒状のカムピース60が外挿されている。
次に、前記した可変リフト機構4およびカム切替機構6の動作を組み合わせて、気筒3毎の吸気バルブ10のリフト特性を変更する動弁系の動作について、図8も参照して説明する。この図8において左側に実線で示すリフトカーブExは、排気バルブ11のリフト特性を表しており、右側に実線または破線で示すリフトカーブIn1,In2が、一側および他側の吸気バルブ10のリフト特性を表している。
本発明は、上述した実施の形態の構成に何ら限定されない。実施の形態はあくまで例示に過ぎず、本発明の構成は勿論、用途などについても限定しない。例えば、実施の形態における可変リフト機構4の構成は一例に過ぎず、カムシャフトの回転に伴って揺動するアームの揺動範囲が、可変機構によって変更されることにより、吸気バルブのリフト量を連続的に変化させるものであればよい。

Claims (5)
- 気筒毎に2つの吸気バルブを備える内燃機関に搭載され、その各吸気バルブをそれぞれ、カムシャフトの回転に伴って揺動する2つの揺動アームによって動作させるようにした動弁装置であって、
前記2つの揺動アームのうちの一方は、カムシャフトに固定された一方のカムによって揺動され、このカムのプロフィールに従って一方の吸気バルブを動作させるものであり、
前記2つの揺動アームのうちの他方は、カムシャフト上に設けられた他方のカムによって揺動されるとともに、その揺動範囲が可変機構によって変更されることにより、他方の吸気バルブのリフト量を連続的に変化させるものであり、
前記他方のカムとして、カムシャフトに外挿されたカムピース上にカム軸方向に並んで、互いにプロフィールの異なるカムが複数、設けられ、そのうちのいずれかが前記カムピースのスライドによって選択されるように構成されている内燃機関の動弁装置。 - 請求項1に記載の内燃機関の動弁装置において、
前記他方のカムとして、前記一方のカムと同じプロフィールを有する通常カムと、これよりもリフト量の小さな低リフトカムとの2つが設けられている、内燃機関の動弁装置。 - 請求項2に記載の内燃機関の動弁装置において、
前記低リフトカムは、前記他方の吸気バルブを気筒の排気行程において開くように設けられている、内燃機関の動弁装置。 - 請求項2または3のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の動弁装置において、
前記低リフトカムのカム軸方向の寸法が前記通常カムよりも小さい、内燃機関の動弁装置。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関の動弁装置において、
前記可変機構は、
前記揺動アームに隣接してその支軸の周りを揺動可能に設けられ、前記他方のカムによって押圧される入力アームと、
前記入力アームと揺動アームとを相対角度が変更可能に連結する可動連結部材と、
前記可動連結部材を動作させて、前記入力アームおよび揺動アームの相対角度を調整する調整部材と、
を備えている、内燃機関の動弁装置。
