Description
発明の分野
本発明は、グリース、特に、尿素官能基を有する増粘剤で増粘したグリースを調製する方法に関する。より具体的には、本発明は、グリースの混合及び増粘剤を形成する反応をもたらすために高圧力及び高流速衝撃を使用してグリースを調製する方法に関する。
グリース製造技術は、過去10年で顕著な変化がなかった。現在の能力は、標準的なケトル手順、バッチプロセスの使用の周辺に集中する。グリースフォーミュラの合成の複雑さを低減するのに役立つグリースの新規な製造技術が必要とされている。新規なプロセスがグリースフォーミュラに所望の物理的特性も与えるならば特に、より効果的で効率的な製造プロセスがいつも望まれている。1つのそのような重要な特性は、「ノイズ」である。
低: 50−300Hz
中: 300−1,800Hz
高: 1,800−10,000Hz
高流速衝撃及び高圧力下にアミン/潤滑基油混合物をイソシアネート/潤滑基油混合物と一緒に混合することを含むグリース組成物を調製する方法が提供される。衝撃は、非常に充分な混合を生み出す高流速でお互いに向かう試薬の強制流を伴う。混合の滞留時間は一般的に10秒以下であり、完全な反応で尿素系増粘剤を形成する。一形態では、滞留時間は1秒以下である。したがって、プロセスは全く効率的である。高圧力及び高流速衝撃の使用により、グリースの全体にわたって尿素増粘剤のほぼ完全な分散にもなる。分散は、伝統的なバッチ法で得られるものよりも全く有効である。
本発明は、低いノイズ特性を有するグリースを調製する方法に関する。当該方法は、高流速衝撃条件及び高圧力下にアミン/潤滑基油の混合物とイソシアネート/潤滑基油の混合物を一緒に混合することを含む。圧力は、500〜8000psiという広い範囲をとり得る。一形態では、圧力は500〜4000psiの範囲をとり得るのであり、他の形態では1000〜3500psi又は1200〜3000psiの範囲をとり得る。高流速衝撃は、5〜1000g/秒の速度で反応剤溶液が一緒に混合されるようなものである。一般的に、反応チャンバー中での滞留時間はしばしば10秒未満であり、一形態では1.0秒未満である。他の形態は、0.5秒未満、そしてしばしば0.3秒未満の滞留時間を使用する。
テーブルトップミキサーを利用する従来のベンチトッププロセスを使用して、尿素系グリースを調製した。グリースは、以下のように調製した。
上記の比較例1に続いて、アミン類及びジイソシアネート重量比を1.4対1に保持し混合して潤滑基油の存在下に反応させて、RIM装置を使用して尿素グリースを合成した。槽1の中にジイソシアネート及びオイルが存在し、そして槽2の中にアミン類及びオイルが存在するように、RIM装置中の各槽に別個の混合物を収納した。槽1及び槽2の混合物を、1000PSI、1700PSI、及び2500PSIの変動ショット圧力でRIM装置の混合チャンバーの内部で一緒に反応させ、そこでは、グリースが形成されてその後、保持容器中に移動させた。
アミン類及びジイソシアネート重量比を1.4対1に保持し混合して潤滑基油の存在下に反応させて、RIM装置を使用して尿素グリースを合成した。槽1の中にジイソシアネート及びオイルが存在し、そして槽2の中にアミン類及びオイルが存在するように、RIM装置中の各槽に別個の混合物を収納した。槽1及び槽2の混合物を、2500PSIでRIM装置の混合チャンバーの内部で一緒に反応させた。その後、添加物をシステム中に分散させて、その後、生成物を一晩中冷却させた。得られたグリースの特性を以下に示す。
パイロットスケールミキサーを利用する従来のケトルバッチプロセスを使用して、尿素系グリースを調製した。グリースを以下のように調製した。
Claims (10)
- (a) 潤滑基油及び少なくとも1つのアミンから成る第一混合物と、潤滑基油及び少なくとも1つのイソシアネートから成る第二混合物を調製することと、
(b) 当該2つの混合物を、1000〜8000psiの範囲の高圧力と5〜1000g/秒の高流速衝撃条件下の混合域中で一緒に混合して、それにより、当該少なくとも1つのアミン及び少なくとも1つのイソシアネートを反応させ、反応生成物を潤滑基油の全体にわたって分散させ、当該反応及び分散はほぼ同時に起こりながら、グリース生成物を形成することと、
(c) 当該混合域から直接的に当該グリース生成物を回収することと、
を含み、
当該グリース生成物は、500°F(260℃)より大きい滴点と、100ちょう度点未満のP(60)〜P(100,000)ちょう度値の変化を示す、グリースを調製する方法。 - 当該混合域が、反応射出成形装置である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 混合時間が10.0秒未満である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 混合時間が0.5秒未満である、請求項3に記載の方法。
- アミン類の混合物を使用する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- イソシアネート化合物類の混合物を使用する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- アリールイソシアネート又はアルキルイソシアネートを使用し、アミン類の当該混合物が、アルキルアミン類、アルケニルアミン類、アルキレンジアミン、ポリオキシアルキレンジアミン、シクロアルキレンアミン類、又はシクロアルキルアミン類を含む、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 当該アリールイソシアネート又はアルキルイソシアネートが、トルエンジイソシアネート、メチレンジフェニルジイソシアネート、ヘキサンジイソシアネート、フェニレンジイソシアネート、ビス(ジフェニルジイソシアネート)及びポリイソシアネート及びそれらの混合物から成る群から選択され、そして、
アミン類が、ブチルアミン、オレイルアミン、ペンチルアミン、ヘキシルアミン、ヘプチルアミン、オクチルアミン、ノニルアミン、デシルアミン、ドデシルアミン、テトラデシルアミン、ヘキサデシルアミン、オクタデシルアミン、ドデセニルアミン、ヘキサデセニルアミン、エチレンジアミン、プロピレンジアミン、ブチレンジアミン、ヘキシレンジアミン、ドデシレンジアミン、オクチレンジアミン、ポリオキシプロピレンジアミン、シクロヘキサンジアミン、メチレンジアニリン、メチルアニリン、アニリン、アルキル化アニリン、シクロヘキシルアミン、ジシクロヘキシルアミン、シクロペンチルアミン、シクロヘプチルアミン、シクロオクチルアミン、及びそれらの混合物から成る群から選択される、請求項7に記載の方法。 - 当該ステップ(c)で回収されたグリース生成物が、反応生成物として調製された尿素増粘剤を少なくとも20重量%含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 追加の潤滑基油をグリース生成物に添加して、尿素増粘剤を12重量%含むグリース生成物を調製することを更に含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
