実験用の塩素−アルカリ電解槽:200ミリリットル(ml)の陽極室、500mlの陰極室、電極のサイズ7.5X7.5センチメートル2(cm2)、Tsouの米国特許第5645930号に記載された陰極活性化被覆、その全内容は参照することにより本明細書中に組み込まれる、Tsouの米国特許第5503663号に記載された陽極活性化被覆、その全内容は参照することにより本明細書中に組み込まれる。
膜:旭化成F4401;旭化成ケミカルズ(東京、日本)から入手可能。
追加的に実施例2の膜(7ヶ月使用)の小片を切り取り、膜上の汚染物質を測定するために抽出法分析に供する。結果を表1に示す。
Claims (9)
- 電解槽が陽極、陰極、及び金属で汚染された膜を含む場合において、電解槽の陽極液及び陰極液を、有機酸及び強塩基を有する緩衝液で置き換えること;
金属と緩衝液の有機酸とによりキレートを形成させること;及び
電解槽の陽極と陰極の間に、キレート形成の間に腐食から電解槽を保護するために、1.6ボルト〜2.0ボルトの槽電圧を供給すること;
を含む、膜の修復方法。 - 有機酸が、シュウ酸、クエン酸、酢酸、及びそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の膜の修復方法。
- 強塩基が、アルカリ金属水酸化物、アルカリ土類金属水酸化物、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択される、請求項1又は2に記載の膜の修復方法。
- 強塩基が水酸化ナトリウムである、請求項3に記載の膜の修復方法。
- 緩衝液が2〜7のpHを有する、請求項1に記載の膜の修復方法。
- 電解槽の陽極、陰極及び膜を、有機酸及び強塩基を有する緩衝液と接触させること;
膜を汚染する金属と緩衝液の有機酸とによりキレートを形成させること;及び
前記キレートを形成している間に、電解槽の陰極が腐食することを防ぐために、陽極と陰極の間に1.6ボルト〜2.0ボルトの槽電圧を供給すること;
を含む、電解槽の陰極を腐食から保護する方法。 - 緩衝液が2〜7のpHを有する、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 槽電圧の供給が、陽極と陰極の間に直流を供給して槽電圧に達するようにすることを含む、請求項6又は7に記載の方法。
- 電解槽の陽極、陰極及び膜と溶液との接触が、0.5時間〜48時間、0℃〜90℃の温度で行われる、請求項6に記載の方法。
