Description
Claims (6)
- 光ファイバコネクタを研磨するための研磨装置であって、前記光ファイバコネクタが、コネクタハウジング及びフェルールを備え、
前記光ファイバコネクタを受容及び保持するためのマウントと、
研磨媒体を支持するプラテンを備える研磨機を格納するための、研磨機ハウジングであって、前記プラテンが、遊星歯車システムに連結され、前記マウントが、カバーが閉鎖位置に位置付けられる時に、前記研磨機ハウジングを取り囲む前記カバー上に配置される研磨機ハウジングと、
前記研磨機ハウジングを支持するためのベースであって、回転ノブが前記ベースの一部で露出され、前記回転ノブが、前記遊星歯車システムを回動させるように、該遊星歯車システムと係合され、前記研磨媒体が、前記カバーが前記閉鎖位置に位置付けられる時に、前記マウントに配置される前記光ファイバコネクタの前記フェルールの端面から延在する、ファイバ先端に近接して配置されるベースと、を備え、
押圧作動可能なインターロックボタンを更に備え、前記インターロックボタンが、前記回転ノブを解放し、前記インターロックボタンが更なる回転を防止するように再係合されるまで、所定の回転のための前記回転ノブの回転を可能にするように押し下げられ、一方向のみの回転を可能にするように、前記回転ノブに連結されるラチェットを更に備える、研磨装置。 - 1つ以上の対応バッキングパッドが、前記研磨媒体と前記プラテンとの間に配置され、前記1つ以上の対応バッキングパッドが、前記研磨媒体と第2の対応バッキングパッドとの間に配置される、第1の対応バッキングパッドを備える、請求項1に記載の研磨装置。
- 前記第1の対応バッキングパッドが、約0.8mmの厚さ及び約60〜約80の硬度(ショアーA)を有し、前記第2の対応バッキングパッドは、約3mmの厚さ及び約30〜約50の硬度(ショアー00)を有する、請求項2に記載の研磨装置。
- 前記ファイバ先端が、前記光ファイバコネクタが前記マウントに配置され、前記カバーが前記閉鎖位置に位置付けられる時に、約100グラムの力(0.98N)〜約150グラムの力(1.47N)の接触力を受ける、請求項1に記載の研磨装置。
- 前記研磨機ハウジング及び前記ベースが、単一ユニットとして一体的に形成される、請求項1に記載の研磨装置。
- 前記光ファイバコネクタが、所定の角度で前記マウント内に保持され、前記所定の角度が、光ファイバの長手方向に垂直な平面研磨及び角度付研磨の一方をもたらし、前記角度付研磨が、垂直から約2°〜約12°の角度を含む、請求項1に記載の研磨装置。
