Description
デンプンは、天然に豊富であり、比較的安価であり得る。熱可塑性デンプンは、生分解性、堆肥化可能性、天然親水性、及び伝統的に石油系ポリマーと相性が悪い材料との相溶性を包含するがこれらに制限されない、従来の石油系ポリマーでは一般に観察されない望ましい特性を有することができる。
本明細書で使用するとき、「多価アルコール」とは、2つ以上のアルコール(すなわち、ヒドロキシル)官能基を有するアルコールを指す。理論に束縛されるものではないが、(上記のように)多価アルコールは、本発明のデンプン組成物において、デンプン可塑剤として作用する可能性があると考えられている。換言すれば、多価アルコールは、デンプンを流動させること及び加工すること、すなわち熱可塑性デンプンを作製することを可能にすると考えられる。
本発明において有用な酸は、カルボン酸、カルボン酸無水物、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される少なくとも1つの官能基を有する。こうした酸としては、一酸、二酸、ポリ酸(少なくとも3つの酸性基を有する酸)、少なくとも1つの酸部分を含むポリマー、少なくとも1つの酸部分を含むコポリマー、これらの無水物、及びこれらの混合物が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
あらゆる好適なトリグリセリドは、トリアシルグリセロールとしても当該技術分野において既知であり、本発明において有用である。有用なトリグリセリドの非限定例としては、トリステアリン、トリオレイン、トリパルミチン、1,2−ジパルミトオレイン、1,3−ジパルミトオレイン、1−パルミト−3−ステアロ−2−オレイン、1−パルミト−2−ステアロ−3−オレイン、2−パルミト−1−ステアロ−3−オレイン、トリリノレイン、1,2−ジパルミトリノレイン、1−パルミト−ジリノレイン、1−ステアロ−ジリノレイン、1,2−ジアセトパルミチン、1,2−ジステアロ−オレイン、1,3−ジステアロ−オレイン、トリミリスチン、トリラウリン、及びこれらの組み合わせが挙げられる。
本発明に従う組成物は、繊維及び/又はプラスチック物品の加工及び/又は最終用途のために、所望により1以上の追加の構成成分を包含してよい。追加の構成成分は、あらゆる好適な量で存在してよい。ある実施形態では、追加の構成成分は、約0.01%〜約35%、又は約2%〜約20%の量で存在してよい。追加の構成成分の非限定例としては、追加のポリマー、加工助剤、及び同種のものが挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
理論に束縛されるものではないが、本発明に従う熱可塑性ポリマー組成物は、前述のエステル縮合反応及び/又はエステル交換反応を通して、水安定性になる可能性がある。熱可塑性ポリマー組成物が、繊維及び/又は繊維を含む物品になるとき、反応は、繊維及び/又は物品の形成前、繊維及び/又は物品の形成中、繊維の及び/又は物品の形成(すなわち硬化)後、並びにこれらの組み合わせにおいて、誘発されてよい。ある実施形態では、反応(単数又は複数)は、熱の適用を通して引き起こされ、及び/又は完了される。本発明のある実施形態では、触媒が、エステル縮合及び/又はエステル交換反応を開始する及び/又は促進するために使用されてもよい。あらゆる好適な触媒が有用である。有用な触媒の非限定例としては、ルイス酸が挙げられる。ルイス酸の非限定例は、パラ−トルエンスルホン酸である。

コアシース比95/5のTPS/PPを有するTPS繊維を、実施例8のように調製する。およそ60g/m2のウェブを、ダイアモンド形状パターン(幅1mm、間隔2mm)を有する加熱したカレンダーを経由して、60℃で結合する。ウェブを115℃のオーブンで12時間乾燥する。ウェブの5cm×5cmの切片を、1000mLの水道水に入れ、3.1rad/s(30rpm)で24時間攪拌する。ウェブを水から取り出し、空気中で24時間乾燥した後、測定する。長さ及び幅の寸法の変化は、15%以下であり、ウェブは本質的に無傷である。ウェブは、水安定性を示すとされる。

6000gのエチレックス(Ethylex)(商標)2015(テート&ライル(Tate& Lyle)、イリノイ州、ジケーター(Decatur))
2500gのグリセロール(アルドリッチケミカルズ(Aldrich Chemicals)、ミズーリ州、セントルイス(St.Louis))
Claims (16)
- 熱可塑性デンプン組成物を含む水安定性繊維であって、前記熱可塑性デンプン組成物は、
a.熱可塑性非構造化デンプンと、
b.エステル縮合生成物と
の水安定化されたブレンドを含み、
前記熱可塑性非構造化デンプンおよび前記エステル縮合生成物は、
(1) 非構造化デンプンと
(2)
i.アルコール官能基を有する多価アルコール、
ii.トリグリセリド、および
iii.カルボン酸、カルボン酸無水物、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される少なくとも1つの酸官能基を有する酸
を含む反応剤混合物と
を含む加熱デンプン混合物からインサイチューで形成され、
前記アルコール官能基:前記少なくとも1つの酸官能基のモル比が1:1〜200:1であり、
前記加熱デンプン混合物は、存在する結合水の少なくとも一部を除去し、および前記多価アルコールと前記トリグリセリドとの間のエステル交換を前記熱可塑性デンプン組成物の水安定性を実現させる点まで進行させるのに、充分な温度および時間で加熱される
繊維。 - 前記酸が、一酸、二酸、ポリ酸、少なくとも1つの酸部分を含むポリマー、少なくとも1つの酸部分を含むコポリマー、これらの無水物、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記酸が、アジピン酸、セバシン酸、ラウリン酸、ステアリン酸、ミリスチン酸、パルミチン酸、オレイン酸、リノール酸、セバシン酸、クエン酸、シュウ酸、マロン酸、コハク酸、グルタル酸、マレイン酸、フマル酸、フタル酸、イソフタル酸、テレフタル酸、アクリル酸、ポリアクリル酸、エチレン−アクリル酸共重合体、メタクリル酸、イタコン酸、メタクリル酸グリシジル、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、請求項2に記載の繊維。
- 前記酸が、無水マレイン酸、無水フタル酸、無水コハク酸、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、請求項2に記載の繊維。
- 前記多価アルコールが、グリセロール、グリコール、糖、糖アルコール、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記組成物が、ポリヒドロキシアルカノエート、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、マレイン酸化ポリエチレン、マレイン酸化ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリ乳酸、変性ポリプロピレン、ナイロン、カプロラクトン、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される追加のポリマーを更に含む、請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記繊維が生分解性である、請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記熱可塑性組成物が、ポリビニルアルコール、エステル重縮合物、脂肪族/芳香族ポリエステル、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される追加のポリマーを更に含む、請求項7に記載の繊維。
- 前記ポリマーが、ポリブチレンサクシネート、ポリブチレンサクシネート コ−アジパート、ブチレンジオール、アジピン酸、及びテレフタル酸のコポリエステル、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項8に記載の繊維。
- 前記繊維が、単構成成分繊維、多構成成分繊維、多構成要素繊維、及びこれらの組み合わせから成る群から選択される、請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記繊維が、シース及びコアを有する多構成成分繊維であり、前記コアが前記熱可塑性デンプン組成物を含む、請求項10に記載の繊維。
- 前記シースが、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリヒドロキシアルカノエート、ポリ乳酸、ポリエステル、及びこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される、請求項10に記載の繊維。
- 前記繊維が海島型構成を有する多構成成分繊維であり、前記島が前記熱可塑性デンプン組成物を含む、請求項10に記載の繊維。
- 請求項1に記載の繊維を含む不織布。
- 請求項1に記載の繊維を含む個人衛生物品。
- 請求項1に記載の繊維を含む吸収性物品。
