Description
本発明は、内燃機関の排ガス浄化用の触媒材料からのコーティング用の担体としての金属製ハニカム体に関する。

図7: 欧州の二輪車排ガステストサイクル(Motorradtestzyklus)における、穿孔を施されなかった薄板層からの通常のハニカム体と、エキスパンドメタルから製造された薄板層を有する本発明によるハニカム体との排ガス排出量の比較測定。
本発明による触媒の利点を証明するためにシミュレーション計算を行った。シミュレーションのためのベースとして、1200cm3の4サイクルエンジンを有する二輪車の排ガス値、つまり有害物質濃度および排ガス温度を、テスト時間に依存したEU3−テストサイクルにおいて測定した。
穿孔を施されなかった、0,05mmの厚さの金属フィルム、90mmの直径、74.5mmの長さおよび200cm−2のセル密度からの円筒形の金属ハニカム体を、1.55g/ハニカム体の体積1lの貴金属濃度を有する、白金、パラジウムおよびロジウムを有する慣例の三元触媒でコーティングした。
触媒特性の比較のために、比較触媒と同じ寸法、フィルム厚さおよび同じセル密度を有するもう一つの金属担持触媒を製造した。しかしながら、穿孔を施されなかった金属フィルムの代わりに、30%の引き伸ばし率および0.6のメッシュ長さ、0.5のメッシュ幅および0.18mmのストランド幅(Stegbreite)を有するエキスパンドメタルを使用した。金属担体を同じ三元触媒で、比較触媒と同じ濃度においてコーティングした。
2つの金属担持触媒の背圧を、300Nm3/h(Nm3=標準m3)の質量流量にて触媒コーティング前および触媒コーティング後に調べた。結果は、以下の第2表の中で示されている。
触媒AおよびBを、二輪車からそれらの排ガス排出量に関して欧州の二輪車排ガステストサイクルにおいて測定した。図7は、走行時間に依存した2つの触媒のテスト中に蓄積したCO−、HC−およびNOx−排出量の測定値を示す。図7は、二輪車が走行する速度も示す。一酸化炭素および炭化水素の本発明による触媒Bの排出曲線は、明らかに比較触媒Aの曲線を下回っている。2つの触媒間の排出量の相違は、初めの100秒間のコールドスタート段階に帰せられ、かつその理由は本発明による触媒のよりわずかな熱量ゆえのそのより短時間の活性時間にある。コールドスタート段階後、2つの触媒は有害物質をすぐに良好に変換する。それというのも、それらは同じ量の触媒材料でコーティングされているからである。その結果として、排出曲線はコールドスタート段階後、互いに平行に進む。
Claims (11)
- 排ガス用の入口端面および出口端面を有する平坦状および波状の金属薄板からのハニカム体を含有する、内燃機関の排ガスの浄化用触媒であって、その際、該金属薄板には、その熱容量を低下させるために穿孔が備え付けられており、かつ該金属薄板上には触媒材料が施与されており、その際、該金属薄板の孔が触媒材料で充填されている内燃機関の排ガスの浄化用触媒において、全ての孔の孔面積が合わせて金属薄板の面積の5〜80%となることを特徴とする、内燃機関の排ガスの浄化用触媒。
- 孔が、円形、楕円形、長円形、正方形、長方形、スリット形または多角形の断面を有することを特徴とする、請求項1記載の触媒。
- 孔が、0.1mm2〜25mm2の面積を有することを特徴とする、請求項2記載の触媒。
- 孔が、金属薄板の全表面上にかまたは部分面上に設けられていることを特徴とする、請求項3記載の触媒。
- 平坦状または波状の金属薄板または2つの金属薄板がエキスパンドメタルから形成されており、該エキスパンドメタルは、ひし形またはスリット形のメッシュを有する格子構造を持ち、その際、該メッシュは、ストランドおよび該ストランドによって取り囲まれた開口部とから成り、かつ該ストランドの交差点は連結点とされることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の触媒。
- エキスパンドメタルが、5〜80%の間の引き伸ばし率の場合、連結中心点から連結中心点まで0.5〜5mmのメッシュ長さを有することを特徴とする、請求項5記載の触媒。
- エキスパンドメタルのメッシュが、エキスパンドメタルの全表面上にかまたは部分面上に設けられていることを特徴とする、請求項5または6記載の触媒。
- 触媒材料による負荷を50〜400g/ハニカム体の体積1lの濃度で有することを特徴とする、請求項1記載の触媒。
- 内燃機関の排ガス浄化用の、請求項1から8までのいずれか1項記載の触媒の使用。
- 触媒がスタート触媒としてかまたは床下触媒として自動車両において使用されることを特徴とする、請求項9記載の使用。
- 触媒が、エンジンが取り付けられた二輪車またはエンジンが取り付けられた船舶の排ガス浄化のために使用されることを特徴とする、請求項9記載の使用。
