Description
本発明のエポキシ樹脂(以下、これを「エポキシ樹脂(A)」と略記する。)は、2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類と、モノナフトール類と、ホルムアルデヒドとを反応させて得られる、ナフタレノン構造を有するフェノール化合物をエポキシ化した構造を有することから、エポキシ樹脂(A)の化学構造的な非対称性により良好な溶剤溶解性を示すことができる。また、エポキシ基と硬化剤との硬化反応において、ナフタレノン構造が硬化反応に関与することにより強固な硬化物が得られ、硬化物における耐熱性と低熱膨張性が向上するものである。
(式中、R1及びR2は、それぞれ独立して水素原子、炭素原子数1〜4の炭化水素基、又は炭素原子数1〜2のアルコキシ基を示す。)で表されるエポキシ樹脂(A3)からなる群から選択される分子構造を有するエポキシ樹脂であることが耐熱性に優れ、かつ、低線膨張係数の硬化物が得られる点から好ましく、特に硬化物の耐熱性と溶剤溶解性とのバランスが良好である点から、前記したエポキシ樹脂(A1)が好ましい。
(式中、R1は、それぞれ独立して水素原子、炭素原子数1〜4の炭化水素基、又は炭素原子数1〜2のアルコキシ基を示す。)
で表されるエポキシ樹脂(A5)、(A6)及び(A7)、
更にこれら構造式(A1)、(A4)、(A5)、(A6)及び(A7)における芳香核に更に、下記部分構造式(i)及び(ii)
(式中、R1は、それぞれ独立して水素原子、炭素原子数1〜4の炭化水素基、又は炭素原子数1〜2のアルコキシ基を示す。)
で表される構造部位が結合したエポキシ樹脂オリゴマー(A8)、更に、エピハロヒドリンを反応させる際に生成するオリゴマー(A9)も生成するため、本発明のエポキシ樹脂(A)は、これらの混合物として使用してもよい。
で表される化合物は、2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン、2−ナフトールとホルムアルデヒドとを該2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレンと2−ナフトールに対して、モル基準で0.01〜0.1倍量となる割合でアルカリ触媒を使用することによって製造することができるが、このような触媒量では、製造工程中、該構造式(1)で表される化合物が選択的に生成、析出して反応が停止する為、本発明の如くナフタレノン構造が生成することはない。
ナフトールアラルキル型エポキシ樹脂、ナフトール−フェノール共縮ノボラック型エポキシ樹脂、ナフトール−クレゾール共縮ノボラック型エポキシ樹脂、芳香族炭化水素ホルムアルデヒド樹脂変性フェノール樹脂型エポキシ樹脂、ビフェニルノボラック型エポキシ樹脂等が挙げられる。これらのなかでもフェノールアラルキル型エポキシ樹脂、ビフェニルノボラック型エポキシ樹脂や、ナフタレン骨格を含有するナフトールノボラック型エポキシ樹脂、ナフトールアラルキル型エポキシ樹脂、ナフトール−フェノール共縮ノボラック型エポキシ樹脂、ナフトール−クレゾール共縮ノボラック型エポキシ樹脂や、結晶性のビフェニル型エポキシ樹脂、テトラメチルビフェニル型エポキシ樹脂、キサンテン型エポキシ樹脂や、アルコキシ基含有芳香環変性ノボラック型エポキシ樹脂(ホルムアルデヒドでグリシジル基含有芳香環及びアルコキシ基含有芳香環が連結された化合物)等が耐熱性に優れる硬化物が得られる点から特に好ましい。

試料 : 樹脂固形分換算で1.0質量%のテトラヒドロフラン溶液をマイクロフィルターでろ過したもの(50μl)。

温度計、滴下ロート、冷却管、分留管、撹拌器を取り付けたフラスコに、2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレンを120部(0.75モル)、2−ナフトールを108部(0.75モル)、37%ホルムアルデヒド水溶液122部(1.50モル)、イソプロピルアルコール380部、48%水酸化カリウム水溶液66部(0.56モル)を仕込み、室温下、窒素を吹き込みながら撹拌した。その後、75℃に昇温し2時間攪拌した。反応終了後、第1リン酸ソーダ81部を添加して中和した後、イソプロピルアルコールを減圧下除去し、メチルイソブチルケトン480部を加えた。得られた有機層を水200部で3回水洗を繰り返した後に、メチルイソブチルケトンを加熱減圧下に除去して、下記構造式(a1)を含有する中間体フェノール化合物(a−1)を220部得た。得られたフェノール化合物(a−1)の水酸基当量は126グラム/当量であった。
次いで、温度計、冷却管、撹拌器を取り付けたフラスコに窒素ガスパージを施しながら上記反応で得られたフェノール化合物(a−1)126部(水酸基1.0当量)、エピクロルヒドリン463部(5.0モル)、n−ブタノール53部を仕込み溶解させた。50℃に昇温した後に、20%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液220部(1.10モル)を3時間要して添加し、その後更に50℃で1時間反応させた。反応終了後、150℃減圧下で未反応エピクロルヒドリンを留去した。それで得られた粗エポキシ樹脂にメチルイソブチルケトン300部とn−ブタノール50部とを加え溶解した。更にこの溶液に10%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液15部を添加して80℃で2時間反応させた後に洗浄液のpHが中性となるまで水100部で水洗を3回繰り返した。次いで共沸によって系内を脱水し、精密濾過を経た後に、溶媒を減圧下で留去して下記構造式(A1−1)を含有するエポキシ樹脂(A−1)164部を得た。得られたエポキシ樹脂(A−1)のエポキシ当量は209グラム/当量であった。得られたエポキシ樹脂のGPCチャートを図1に、13C−NMRチャートを図2に、MSスペクトルを図3に示す。C13NMRチャートから203ppm付近にカルボニル基が生成していることを示すピークが検出され、またMSスペクトルから下記構造式(A1−1)を示す440のピークが検出された。
2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレンを72部(0.45モル)、2−ナフトールを152部(1.05モル)、37質量%ホルムアルデヒド水溶液85部(1.05モル)にした以外は実施例1と同様にして、目的のエポキシ樹脂(A−2)170部を得た。得られたエポキシ樹脂のエポキシ当量は208グラム/当量であった。得られたエポキシ樹脂(A−2)のGPCチャートを図4に、13C−NMRチャートを図5に、MSスペクトルを図6に示す。
下記表1記載の配合に従い、エポキシ樹脂として、前記エポキシ樹脂(A−1)、及び比較用としてエポキシ樹脂(A−3)[下記構造式
で表される4官能型ナフタレン系エポキシ樹脂(DIC(株)製「エピクロンHP−4700」エポキシ当量165グラム/当量)]を用い、また、硬化剤としてフェノールノボラック型フェノール樹脂(DIC(株)製「TD−2090」、水酸基当量:105g/eq)及び硬化促進剤として2−エチル−4−メチルイミダゾール(2E4MZ)を配合し、最終的に各組成物の不揮発分(N.V.)が58質量%となるようにメチルエチルケトンを配合して調整した。
次いで、下記の如き条件で硬化させて積層板を試作し、下記の方法で耐熱性及び熱膨張係数を評価した。また、前記エポキシ樹脂(A−1)、及びエポキシ樹脂(A−3)についての溶剤溶解性を下記の方法で測定した。結果を表1に示す。
基材:日東紡績株式会社製 ガラスクロス「#2116」(210×280mm)
プライ数:6 プリプレグ化条件:160℃
硬化条件:200℃、40kg/cm2で1.5時間、成型後板厚:0.8mm
<耐熱性(ガラス転移温度)>
積層板を5mm×54mm×0.8mmのサイズに切り出し、これを試験片として粘弾性測定装置(DMA:レオメトリック社製固体粘弾性測定装置「RSAII」、レクタンギュラーテンション法:周波数1Hz、昇温速度3℃/分)を用いて、弾性率変化が最大となる(tanδ変化率が最も大きい)温度をガラス転移温度として評価した。
<線膨張係数>
積層板を5mm×5mm×0.8mmのサイズに切り出し、これを試験片として熱機械分析装置(TMA:セイコーインスツルメント社製SS−6100)を用いて、圧縮モードで熱機械分析を行った。
測定条件
測定架重:88.8mN
昇温速度:3℃/分で2回
測定温度範囲:−50℃から300℃
上記条件での測定を同一サンプルにつき2回実施し、2回目の測定における、240℃から280℃の温度範囲における平均膨張係数を線膨張係数として評価した。
<溶剤溶解性>
エポキシ樹脂10部とメチルエチルケトン10部をサンプル瓶中、密閉状態60℃で溶解させた。その後、25℃まで冷却し、結晶が析出するか評価した。結晶が析出しない場合は○、結晶が析出した場合は×として判定した。
Claims (9)
- 2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類と、モノナフトール類と、ホルムアルデヒドとを、アルカリ触媒の存在下に反応させ得られる分子構造であって、かつ、該分子構造内にナフタレノン構造を有するフェノール化合物をエポキシ化した構造を有することを特徴とするエポキシ樹脂。
- 前記エポキシ樹脂が、前記分子構造内にナフタレノン構造を有するフェノール化合物をエポキシ化した化合物の他、2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類とホルムアルデヒドとの反応によって得られる化合物をエポキシ化した化合物、及びモノナフトール類とホルムアルデヒドとの反応によって得られる化合物をエポキシ化した化合物を含むものである請求項1記載のエポキシ樹脂。
- 前記エポキシ樹脂が、エポキシ当量150〜400g/eqのものである請求項2記載の新規エポキシ樹脂。
- 2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類と、モノナフトール類と、ホルムアルデヒドとを、2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類及びモノナフトール類の総モル数に対して、モル基準で0.2〜2.0倍量のアルカリ触媒の存在下に反応させ、次いで、得られた反応物にエピハロヒドリンを反応させることを特徴とするエポキシ樹脂の製造方法。
- 2,7−ジヒドロキシナフタレン類及びモノナフトール類の総モル数に対して、モル基準で0.6倍量以上のホルムアルデヒドを用いる請求項5記載のエポキシ樹脂の製造方法。
- 請求項1〜4の何れか1つに記載の新規エポキシ樹脂(A)、及び硬化剤(B)を必須成分とすることを特徴とする硬化性樹脂組成物。
- 請求項7記載の硬化性樹脂組成物を硬化反応させてなることを特徴とする硬化物。
- 請求項7記載の組成物に、更に有機溶剤(C)を配合してワニス化した樹脂組成物を、補強基材に含浸し銅箔を重ねて加熱圧着させることにより得られたプリント配線基板。
