Description
(a)Knoxらの米国特許第5374473号の教示に従い、焼結済みの又は未焼結の状態のいずれかの、少なくとも1つの延伸された多孔質PTFEシート又は重ねられたシートの束を高密度化する。
(b)その高密度化されたPTFEを、PTFEの結晶溶融温度を超える温度に予備加熱する。
(c)加熱したPTFE膜を、幅方向に、長さ方向に、又は幅と長さの両方向においていずれかの順序で逐次的にもしくは同時に、少なくとも1%/秒、より好ましくは少なくとも3%/秒、さらにより好ましくは5%/秒以上の速度で、かつ4:1より大きいストレッチ比でストレッチする。
材料の水蒸気透過性の測定はASTM F−1249に従いMOCON, Inc.(Minneapolis, MN)により行われた。
全ての試験片をASTM D882−90に従い試験した。クロスヘッド速度を20インチ/分(508mm/分)、ゲージ長を2インチ(51mm)とし、長方形の試験片は長さを少なくとも5インチ(127mm)とした。

この試験はQ1000DSC(TA Instruments)及びDSC用標準アルミニウムパンとふた(TA Instruments)を用いて行った。サンプル封入プレス(TA Instruments)を用い、ふたをパンに押しつけて圧着した。質量測定はMC210P微量天秤(Sartorius)の上で行った。

Claims (17)
- 水蒸気透過係数が0.010g・mm/m2/日以下であり、直交する2方向でのマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも15000psi(103MPa)であり、厚さが50マイクロメートル(μm)以下である、延伸ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)フィルムを含む物品。
- 前記フィルムのマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも1方向において少なくとも25000psi(172MPa)である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記フィルムの水蒸気透過係数が0.003g・mm/m2/日以下である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記フィルムがフィラーをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記延伸PTFEフィルムの厚さが10マイクロメートル(μm)以下である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記延伸PTFEフィルムの厚さが5マイクロメートル(μm)以下である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記延伸PTFEフィルムの厚さが1マイクロメートル(μm)以下である、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 水蒸気透過係数が0.010g・mm/m2/日以下であり、直交する2方向でのマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも15000psi(103MPa)であり、厚さが50マイクロメートル(μm)以下である、延伸ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)フィルム、及び
少なくとも1つの基材
を含む積層体。 - 前記フィルムの水蒸気透過係数が0.003g・mm/m2/日以下である、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材がフッ素ポリマーを含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が、パーフルオロアクリレート(PFA)、フルオロエチレンプロピレン(FEP)、テトラフルオロエチレン−ヘキサフルオロプロピレン−フッ化ビニリデンポリマー(THV)、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)、及びポリクロロトリフルオロエチレン(PCTFE)からなる群から選択される少なくとも1種の材料を含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が、ポリウレタン、ポリエチレン、ポリアミド、エチレンビニルアルコール(EVOH)及びポリ塩化ビニリデン(PVDC)からなる群から選択される少なくとも1種の材料を含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が少なくとも1種の感圧接着剤を含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が少なくとも1種の布地を含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が金属を含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材がガラスを含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
- 前記基材が無機シートを含む、請求項8に記載の積層体。
