Description
円筒形壁及び軸を有する実質的に円筒形の流動体チャンバーであって、第1流動体(A)と、混和性を有さず、メニスカスで接し異なる屈折率を有し、軸方向に配置された第2流動体(B)とを含む流動体チャンバー、
上記円筒形壁の内部に配置された流動体接触層、
上記流動体接触層により第1流動体と第2流動体から分離された第1電極、及び
第2流動体に作用する第2電極、
を有し、
上記の流動体接触層は、第2流動体により湿潤性を与えられており、上記のメニスカスの形状は、第1電極と第2電極との間の電圧に依存して変化するように、第1電極と第2電極との間に電圧を適用すると変化し、
第2流動体による流動体接触層の湿潤性は、第1電極と第2電極との間に電圧が適用されない場合、メニスカスと接触層との交差点の両側が実質的に同一である、
ことを特徴としている。
Claims (16)
- 可変の焦点のレンズであって、
円筒の壁、及び軸を有する実質的に円筒形の流体チャンバー、
前記流体チャンバーが、第一の流体及び軸の方向に変位させられた第二の流体を含むこと、
前記第一及び第二の流体が、メニスカスにわたって接触した不混和性のものであると共に異なる屈折率を有すること、
前記円筒の壁の内側に配置された流体接触層、
前記流体接触層によって前記第一の流体及び前記第二の流体から分離された第一の電極、
前記第二の流体に作用する第二の電極、
前記流体接触層が、前記第一の電極及び前記第二の電極の間における電圧の印加で変動する、前記第二の流体による濡れ性を有し、前記濡れ性の変動は前記メニスカスの形状の変動につながること
を含む、レンズにおいて、
前記第二の流体による前記流体接触層の濡れ性は、電圧が前記第一の及び第二の電極の間に印加されることがないとき、前記メニスカスと前記流体接触層との交差部に対して前記第一の流体の側と前記第二の流体の側の両方において実質的に等しいものであると共に、
前記レンズは、前記第二の流体の側から見たとき凹であるメニスカスの形状を生じさせるように構成されたものであると共に、
前記凹の形状のメニスカスの曲率は、前記第一の及び第二の電極の間に印加される電圧の大きさが増加するとき、より小さくなるものである
ことを特徴とする、レンズ。 - 請求項1に記載のレンズにおいて、
前記流体接触層の内側の表面は、前記円筒の軸を通る断面において直線をなすと共に、
前記直線は、前記表面の前記実質的に円筒形の形状の軸に対して10度以内傾いている、レンズ。 - 請求項1に記載のレンズにおいて、
前記第一の流体は、絶縁性の液体を含むと共に、
前記第二の流体は、導電性の液体を含む、
レンズ。 - 請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のレンズにおいて、
前記流体接触層は、均一な厚さの実質的に均質な層である、レンズ。 - 請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載のレンズにおいて、
前記第一の電極は、実質的に円筒形のものである、レンズ。 - 請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載のレンズにおいて、
前記第一の流体は、前記第二の流体と比べてより大きい屈折率を有すると共に、
前記レンズは、正のレンズパワーを提供する少なくとも一つの固定されたレンズ素子を含む複合のレンズに含まれたものであると共に、
前記メニスカスが、前記第一の流体に関係して凸のものであるとき、前記複合レンズが、正のレンズパワーを有するようなものである、レンズ。 - 請求項6に記載のレンズにおいて、
前記複合レンズの前記少なくとも一つの固定されたレンズ素子が前側のレンズ及び後側のレンズを含み、前記複合レンズの前記前側のレンズ及び前記後側のレンズの内側の表面は、保護の層で被覆されたものであると共に、あるスペースが前記二つレンズによって囲まれたものであると共に、前記円筒形の流体チャンバーが前記第一の及び第二の流体を保持するものである、レンズ。 - 請求項7に記載のレンズにおいて、
前記保護の層は、また、反射防止の特性を有する、レンズ。 - 請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載のレンズを含む光学的なデバイスであって、
前記デバイスは、集束させる平面を定義する手段を含むものであると共に、
前記デバイスにおいて、前記レンズは、平行な光線からなる放射が入力であると共に非ゼロの電圧が前記第一の及び第二の電極の間に印加されるとき、前記放射が、前記集束させる平面に集束させられるものであるように、配置されたものである、
デバイス。 - 請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載のレンズを含む画像取得デバイス。
- 請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載のレンズを含む、光学的な記録担体を走査するための光学的な走査をするデバイス。
- 請求項11に記載の光学的な走査するデバイスにおいて、
前記レンズは、走査されるものである光学的な記録担体における異なる情報層の深さの走査をする間に発生する球面収差を補正するように配置されたものである、デバイス。 - 可変の焦点のレンズを動作させるための方法であって、前記可変の焦点のレンズは、
円筒の壁、及び軸を有する実質的に円筒形の流体チャンバー、
前記流体チャンバーが、第一の流体及び軸の方向に変位させられた第二の流体を含むこと、
前記第一及び第二の流体が、メニスカスにわたって接触した不混和性のものであると共に異なる屈折率を有すること、
前記円筒の壁の内側に配置された流体接触層、
前記流体接触層によって前記第一の流体及び前記第二の流体から分離された第一の電極、
前記第二の流体に作用する第二の電極、
前記第二の流体による前記流体接触層の濡れ性が、電圧が前記第一の及び第二の電極の間に印加されることがないとき、前記メニスカスと前記流体接触層との交差部に対して前記第一の流体の側と前記第二の流体の側の両方において実質的に等しいものであること、
前記第二の流体による前記流体接触層の濡れ性が、前記第一の電極及び前記第二の電極の間における電圧の印加で変動するものであること、
前記レンズが、前記第二の流体の側から見たとき凹であるメニスカスの形状を生じさせるように構成されたものであること、
前記凹の形状のメニスカスの曲率が、前記第一の及び第二の電極の間に印加される電圧の大きさが増加するとき、より小さくなること
を含み、
前記方法は、前記メニスカスの形状を変化させるために前記電圧を制御することを含む、方法。 - 請求項13に記載の方法において、
前記方法は、前記第二の流体の側から見たとき凹であるメニスカスの形状を生じさせるように前記電圧を変動させることを含む、方法。 - 請求項13又は14に記載の方法において、
前記方法は、前記第二の流体の側から見たとき凸のものであるメニスカスの形状を生じさせるように前記電圧を変動させることをさらに含む、方法。 - 請求項15に記載の方法において、
前記メニスカスは、100°及び140°の間における、前記第二の流体の側での前記流体接触層との接触角を有する、方法。
