Description
Claims (9)
- 第一の流体及び第二の流体を含有するチャンバーを有する可変レンズであって、
該チャンバーは、内面を有し、かつ管の軸が定められた管として形成され、
該第一の流体及び第二の流体は、それぞれ異なる屈折率を有し、且つ、実質的に不混和性であることで、前記第一の流体及び第二の流体の接触領域に沿ってメニスカスを形成し、
前記メニスカスは、前記管の軸と交差し、かつ周に沿って前記内面と接触し、
前記第一の流体は、前記内面の親水性領域と接し、該親水性領域は、前記第二の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第一の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有し、
前記第二の流体は、前記内面の疎水性領域と接し、該疎水性領域は、前記第一の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第二の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有し、
それにより該メニスカスの周は前記内面に固定した状態で設けられ、
当該可変レンズは少なくとも一つのポンプをさらに含み、
前記少なくとも一つのポンプは、該チャンバー内に含有された該流体の各々の相対的な容積を変えることによって、該メニスカスの形状を制御可能に変えるために配置される、
レンズ。 - 前記ポンプは、電気毛管、差圧電気毛管、エレクトロウェッティング、継続的エレクトロウェッティング、電気泳動、電気浸透、誘電泳動、電磁流体力学的ポンピング、機械的ポンピング、熱毛管、熱膨張、誘電ポンピング、又は可変誘電ポンピングの少なくとも一つを利用して、動作する、請求項1に記載のレンズ。
- 前記チャンバーは、円形の、長方形の、又は、楕円形の、断面を有する、請求項1又は2に記載のレンズ。
- 前記チャンバーは、前記光軸を横断して広がる第二のメニスカスにわたって前記第二の流体と接触する第三の流体をさらに含有し、
該第二のメニスカスの周は、前記チャンバーの内部の表面に固定して位置させられ、
前記第二の流体及び該第三の流体は、実質的に不混和性であると共に異なる屈折率を有する、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のレンズ。 - 前記第三の流体及び前記第一の流体は、同じ材料である、請求項4に記載のレンズ。
- 可変レンズを含む光学デバイスであって、
該レンズは、第一の流体及び第二の流体を含有するチャンバーを含み、
該チャンバーは、内面を有し、かつ管の軸が定められた管として形成され、
該第一の流体及び第二の流体は、それぞれ異なる屈折率を有し、且つ、実質的に不混和性であることで、前記第一の流体及び第二の流体の接触領域に沿ってメニスカスを形成し、
前記メニスカスは、前記管の軸と交差し、かつ周に沿って前記内面と接触し、
前記第一の流体は、前記内面の親水性領域と接し、該親水性領域は、前記第二の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第一の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有し、
前記第二の流体は、前記内面の疎水性領域と接し、該疎水性領域は、前記第一の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第二の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有し、
それにより該メニスカスの周は前記内面に固定した状態で設けられ、
且つ、
該レンズは、該チャンバー内に含有された該流体の各々の相対的な容積を変えることによって、該メニスカスの形状を制御可能に変えるために配置された少なくとも一つのポンプを含む、光学デバイス。 - 当該デバイスは、光記録担体の情報層を走査する光走査デバイスであり、
当該デバイスは、放射ビームを発生させる放射源及び該情報層に該放射ビームを収束させる対物系を含む、請求項6に記載の光学デバイス。 - 当該デバイスは、可変焦点画像取得デバイスである、請求項6に記載の光学デバイス。
- 可変レンズを制御する方法であって、
当該可変レンズ内に、内面を有し、かつ軸が定められた円筒管として形成されたチャンバーを供する工程;
前記チャンバー内に、それぞれ異なる屈折率を有し、かつ互いに実質的に不混和性である第一の流体及び第二の流体を供する工程;
前記第一の流体を、前記第二の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第一の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有する前記内面の親水性領域と接触させ、かつ、前記第二の流体を、前記第一の流体に対する湿潤性よりも前記第二の流体に対して高い湿潤性を有する前記内面の疎水性領域と接触させることで、前記第一の流体及び第二の流体の接触領域に沿ってメニスカスを形成する工程であって、前記メニスカスが、前記管の軸と交差し、かつ周に沿って前記内面と接触することで、該メニスカスの周を前記内面に固定した状態で設けられる工程;
該チャンバー内に含有された該流体の各々の相対的な容積を変えることによって、該メニスカスの形状を制御可能に変える工程;
を有する方法。
