Claims (11)
- 照明装置と、前記照明装置から出射した光を用いて表示を行う液晶パネルとを備えた液晶表示装置であって、
前記液晶パネルは、一対の基板と、前記一対の基板間に設けられた液晶層と、前記一対の基板の前記液晶層側に設けられた一対の配向膜とを有し、
前記一対の配向膜の少なくとも一方は、配向規制力を光配向処理によって付与された光配向膜であり、
前記照明装置は、表示に用いられる光のうち少なくとも青色の光を第一次的に発生させる光源を含み、
前記光源は、紫外領域内の光を実質的に発生させず、
前記液晶パネルは垂直配向モードで表示を行い、
前記液晶層は、炭素―炭素三重結合および多環基の少なくとも一方を有する分子を含む液晶材料から形成されている液晶表示装置。 - 前記光源が発する青色の光のスペクトルは、ピーク波長が380nm以上である請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記光源は発光ダイオードである請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記光源はエレクトロルミネッセンス素子である請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記光源は放電管である請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶パネルは、それぞれが前記照明装置から出射した光を変調することができる複数の画素領域と、前記複数の画素領域のそれぞれに設けられたスイッチング素子とをさらに有する、請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶材料の20℃における回転粘性率γ1が、120mPa・s以下である請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶材料は、前記基本骨格を有する前記分子を25質量%以上含む請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1から9のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置を備える電子機器。
- テレビジョン放送を受信する回路をさらに備える、請求項10に記載の電子機器。
