Claims (33)
- 内部に中央内腔(48)を画定する内層(50)を有する、カテーテル又はシース(10)用の可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の製造方法において、
前記可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の製造中に、前記可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の壁に埋め込まれたワイヤ内腔(54)に流体(65)を注入して、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の内径を、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)内に受け入れられている若しくは受け入れられる変向ワイヤ(40)の直径より大きく維持する、ことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)を注入するときに前記変向ワイヤ(40)が前記ワイヤ内腔(54)内に配置されている、方法。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)は前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の第1端に流入し、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の反対端から流出する、方法。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)は前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の第1端に注入されるが、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の反対端は塞がれており、そのため前記流体(65)は前記ワイヤ内腔(54)を通って流れない、方法。
- 請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)は気体及び/又は液体である、方法。
- 請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)は約0.345MPa(約50psig)と約0.758MPa(約110psig)との間の圧力で注入されるガスである、方法。
- 請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記流体(65)は、シリコーンゲル流体及びシリコーンオイルからなる群から選択された液体、及び/又は空気、窒素、アルゴン、及び二酸化炭素からなる群から選択された気体である、方法。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、外層(56)を前記内層(50)の周囲に適用する工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項8に記載の方法において、前記内層(50)はPTFEであり、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)はPTFEであり、前記外層(56)はPEBAである、方法。
- 請求項8又は9に記載の方法において、前記内層(50)の周囲にワイヤ編成体(52)を適用する工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項10に記載の方法において、前記ワイヤ編成体(52)は、前記外層(56)によって含浸される、方法。
- 請求項8乃至11のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記外層(56)の周囲に収縮ラップ層(64)を適用する工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項12に記載の方法において、前記収縮ラップ層(64)はFEPである、方法。
- 請求項12又は13に記載の方法において、前記収縮ラップ層(64)を加熱する工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項14に記載の方法において、前記加熱により前記内層(50)及び前記外層(56)を結合する、方法。
- 請求項14又は15に記載の方法において、前記収縮ラップ層(64)は、この収縮ラップ層(64)を収縮させるため、約190℃乃至約220℃の温度範囲まで加熱される、方法。
- 請求項1乃至16のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記内層(50)の少なくとも一部内に存在する、方法。
- 請求項17に記載の方法において、前記流体を注入する工程の前に、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記内層(50)と同時押出しされる、方法。
- 請求項8乃至16のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記外層(56)の少なくとも一部内に存在する、方法。
- 請求項19に記載の方法において、前記流体を注入する工程の前に、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)をスパゲッティチューブ(62)として予備押出しし、そのあと前記スパゲッティチューブ(62)を前記外層(56)の前記適用前に前記内層(50)の外面に沿って敷設する工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項19に記載の方法において、前記流体を注入する工程の前に、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)を画定するスパゲッティチューブ(62)を、前記内層(50)の外面に沿って敷設するときに押出す工程を更に含む、方法。
- 請求項1乃至21のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、変向ワイヤ(40)が内部に受け入れられる一対のワイヤ内腔(54)が前記可撓性チューブ状本体(12)に形成されており、前記一対のワイヤ内腔(54)は、選択的に、前記中央内腔(48)を中心として互いから約180°オフセットしている、方法。
- 請求項7乃至22のいずれか1項に記載の方法において、前記内層(50)は、前記スパゲッティチューブ(62)が設けられているときは、その融点又は軟化点が前記外層(56)のポリマー材料のものより高いポリマー材料から成る、方法。
- 変向ワイヤ(40)を含み、この変向ワイヤ(40)の外径よりも大きな内径を持つワイヤ内腔(54)内に前記変向ワイヤ(40)が設けられたカテーテル又はシース(10)用の可撓性チューブ状本体(12)であって、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の壁に埋め込まれ、該可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の壁は中央内腔(48)をその内部に画定する内層(50)を取り囲む外層(56)を備える、可撓性チューブ状本体(12)において、
(i)前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記内層(50)の少なくとも一部内に設けられ、又は、
(ii)前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は前記外層(56)の少なくとも一部内に設けられ、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)は、前記可撓性チューブ状本体(12)の製造中に、前記内層(50)の外面に沿って軸線方向に敷設されたポリマー製のスパゲッティチューブ(62)により画定される、
ことを特徴とする本体。 - 請求項24に記載の本体において、前記内層(50)は、熱可塑性ポリマーから予備押出しされる、本体。
- 請求項24又は25に記載の本体において、前記熱可塑性ポリマーはPTFE、PVDF、又はPEEKである、本体。
- 請求項24乃至26のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記スパゲッティチューブ(62)はPTFE、PVDF、又はPEEKから成る、本体。
- 請求項24乃至27のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記外層(56)は、熱可塑性ポリマーから成る、本体。
- 請求項28に記載の本体において、前記外層(56)はPEBA、PVDF、又はPETである、本体。
- 請求項24乃至29のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記内層(50)を取り囲むワイヤ編成体(52)を更に含み、このワイヤ編成体(52)は前記外層(56)によって含浸される、本体。
- 請求項24乃至30のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)の内径とその中に置かれる前記変向ワイヤ(40)の外径との間の差は、約50.8ミクロン(microns)と約101.6ミクロン(microns)との間である、本体。
- 請求項24乃至31のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記内層(50)は、前記スパゲッティチューブ(62)が設けられているときは、その融点又は軟化点が前記外層(56)のポリマー材料のものより高いポリマー材料から成る、本体。
- 請求項24乃至32のいずれか1項に記載の本体において、前記ワイヤ内腔(54)内の流体残留物を更に含み、前記変向ワイヤ(40)はシリコーンコーティング又はPTFEコーティングを選択的に含む、前記本体。
