Claims (8)
- デュアルビューディスプレイであって、空間的に多重化された第1および第2のイメージを表示するように構成された表示デバイス(43)と、該デバイス(43)と連係して、該第1および該第2のイメージからの光を、第1の角度分離で第1および第2の方向にそれぞれ方向付けるように構成された視差光学素子(44)と、該第1および該第2の方向からの該光を受取るための光学系(45、50)とを備える、デュアルビューディスプレイであって、
該光学系は、該第1の角度分離とは異なった第2の角度分離で、第1および第2のビュー方向のそれぞれに該第1および該第2のイメージからの光を方向付けるように構成され、
前記光学系(45、50)は、該第1および第2のビュー方向が、ディスプレイ面に対する法線に対して左右非対称なビュー方向となるよう構成した非対称光学系(45)を有し、
該非対称光学系(45)は、複数の光学素子のアレイを備え、該複数の光学素子の各々は、その表面が該ディスプレイ面に対して傾斜したウエッジ部分と、その表面がディスプレイ面に対して平行な非斜面部分(66)とを含み、該ウエッジ部分の表面と該非斜面部分の表面とが鈍角をなすよう交差した左右非対称な構造となっており、
該非対称光学系により、該第1及び第2のイメージに対応する2つの実イメージが、該表示デバイスから該ウエッジ部を通過して発散屈折した光により形成されるその一方が、該表示デバイスから該非斜面領域を通過して非発散屈折した光により形成されるその他方より広い表示範囲で観察されるよう表示されることを特徴とする、デュアルビューディスプレイ。 - 前記第2の角度分離は、前記第1の角度分離よりも大きいことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記非対称光学系上には屈折率が制御可能である材料の第1の層(50)が、該非対称光学系を構成する複数の光学素子のウエッジ部分および非斜面部分の表面が、該第1の層(50)の整合面と接触するよう設けられていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記第1の層(50)は、前記非対称光学系(45)の屈折率を含む、制御可能範囲の屈折率を有することを特徴とする、請求項3に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記第1の層(50)の前記材料は、液晶材料であることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記第1の層(50)の前記材料は、複屈折材料であることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記デバイス(43)は、液晶デバイスを備えることを特徴とする、請求項1〜6のいずれか1つに記載のディスプレイ。
- 前記多重化された第1および第2のイメージを表示するために、前記デバイス(43)を駆動する駆動装置(20)を備えることを特徴とする、請求項1〜7のいずれか1つに記載のディスプレイ。
