二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)は、ガラス骨格の主成分である。SiO2の含有量が20質量%未満の場合は、ガラス骨格が形成され難くなる。一方、SiO2の含有量が70質量%を超えるとガラスの融点が高くなり過ぎて、原料を均一に熔解することが困難になる。SiO2の含有量は、質量%で表示して、20≦SiO2≦70、特に40<SiO2≦70が好ましい。
ガラス中に存在する鉄分(Fe)は、通常、酸化鉄(Fe2O3またはFeO)の状態で存在する。Fe2O3はガラスの紫外線吸収特性を高める効果があり、FeOはガラスの熱線吸収特性を高める効果があるが、いずれの状態でも酸化鉄は可視光吸収に寄与する。
アルカリ金属酸化物(Li2O,Na2O,K2O)は、ガラス形成時の失透温度および粘度を調整する成分である。
アルカリ土類金属酸化物(MgO,CaO,SrO)もまた、ガラス形成時の失透温度および粘度を調整する成分である。
酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)は、必須成分ではないが、ガラス形成時の失透温度および粘度を調整する成分である。Al2O3の含有量が10質量%を超える場合は、失透温度が上昇して、ガラスが形成され難くなる。Al2O3は、質量%で表して、0≦Al2O3≦10が好ましい。
三酸化二ホウ素(B2O3)は、必須成分ではないが、ガラスの融点を下げる成分であり、ガラスの結晶化を抑制する成分でもある。これらの特性を利用すれば、ガラスの形成が容易になる。B2O3の含有量は、他の成分の含有量を大きく制限しない範囲、すなわち10質量%以下とするとよい。B2O3は、質量%で表して、0≦B2O3≦10が好ましい。
酸化チタン(TiO2)および酸化ジルコニウム(ZrO2)は、必須成分ではないが、ガラス中に結晶を均質に析出させるための核形成剤として使用できる。このため、ガラス中に金属酸化物結晶を析出させる場合には、TiO2およびZrO2から選ばれる少なくとも一方を含ませるとよい。TiO2は、ガラスの紫外線吸収特性を高める成分でもある。
酸化コバルト(CoO)は、必須成分ではないが、ガラスの可視光吸収能を高める成分である。ただし、その含有量が20質量%を超えると、ガラスの失透温度が上昇して成形が困難になる。したがって、CoOは質量%で表して、0≦CoO≦20が好ましい。
0.05≦Fe2+/(Fe2++Fe3+)<1.00であることが好ましく、0.10≦Fe2+/(Fe2++Fe3+)≦0.80であることがより好ましい。この比率が上記範囲にある鱗片状ガラスは、より黒い色調を呈し、高い可視光吸収性能を発揮する。
表1〜表3の組成となるように、珪砂など通常のガラス原料を調合し、実施例、参照例および比較例ごとにバッチを作製した。このバッチを電気炉内で1400〜1500℃まで加熱し、熔融させ、組成が均一になるまでそのまま維持した。その後、熔融したガラスを冷却しつつペレットに成形した。
Claims (11)
- 遷移金属酸化物としてT−Fe 2 O 3 を18質量%以上含有するとともにSiO 2 とアルカリ金属酸化物とをさらに含有し、かつ厚さ15μmに成形したときにA光源を用いて測定した可視光透過率が85%以下となるガラス組成物を含み、
Feを構成原子とする金属酸化物結晶を含まない、鱗片状ガラスであって、
前記ガラス組成物が、質量%で表して、
20≦SiO2≦70、
18≦T−Fe2O3≦50、
5≦(Li2O+Na2O+K2O)≦50
の成分を含有する、鱗片状ガラス。
ただし、T−Fe 2 O 3 は前記ガラス組成物における全Feから換算したFe 2 O 3 である。 - 遷移金属酸化物としてT−Fe 2 O 3 を18質量%以上含有するとともにSiO 2 とアルカリ土類金属酸化物とをさらに含有し、かつ厚さ15μmに成形したときにA光源を用いて測定した可視光透過率が85%以下となるガラス組成物を含み、

Feを構成原子とする金属酸化物結晶を含まない、鱗片状ガラスであって、
前記ガラス組成物が、質量%で表して、
20≦SiO2≦70、
18≦T−Fe2O3≦50、
0<(Li2O+Na2O+K2O)<50、
0<(MgO+CaO+SrO)<50、
5≦(Li2O+Na2O+K2O+MgO+CaO+SrO)≦50
の成分を含有する、鱗片状ガラス。
ただし、T−Fe 2 O 3 は前記ガラス組成物における全Feから換算したFe 2 O 3 である。 - 前記ガラス組成物に含まれるFeが、0.05≦Fe2+/(Fe2++Fe3+)<1.00を満たす請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の鱗片状ガラス。
- 前記Feが、0.10≦Fe2+/(Fe2++Fe3+)≦0.80を満たす請求項4に記載の鱗片状ガラス。
- 前記鱗片状ガラスの表面に形成した、金属および金属酸化物から選ばれる少なくとも一方を含む被膜をさらに含む請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の鱗片状ガラス。
- 前記金属が、ニッケル,金,銀,白金およびパラジウムから選ばれる少なくとも1種である請求項6に記載の鱗片状ガラス。
- 前記金属酸化物が、チタン,アルミニウム,鉄,コバルト,クロム,ジルコニウム,亜鉛およびスズから選ばれる少なくとも1種の酸化物である請求項6に記載の鱗片状ガラス。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の鱗片状ガラスを含有する樹脂組成物。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の鱗片状ガラスを含有する塗料。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の鱗片状ガラスを含有する化粧料。
