Description
(a)希土類水酸化物又は酸化物のコロイド粒子を含有しているコロイド溶液を提供すること、
(b)コロイド溶液に、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を加えて、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子の表面にコロイド粒子を吸着担持させること、並びに
(c)コロイド粒子を吸着担持させたジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を、乾燥及び焼成すること。
ここで、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子は、金属元素として、ジルコニウム、又はジルコニウムとアルカリ土類金属及び希土類元素からなる群より選択される金属とを含む。
本発明の方法では始めに、希土類水酸化物又は酸化物のコロイド粒子を含有しているコロイド溶液を提供する。
本発明の方法では、次に、コロイド粒子を含有しているコロイド溶液に、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を加えて、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子にコロイド粒子を吸着担持させる。
コロイド粒子を吸着担持させたジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を、乾燥及び焼成することによって、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子の表面に、希土類酸化物富化領域が点在してなる本発明の触媒担体粒子を得ることができる。
本発明の排ガス浄化触媒は、本発明の触媒担体粒子にロジウムを担持することによって得ることができる。
最終的に得られる触媒担体粒子においてネオジムが全金属量の5mol%になるようにして、硝酸ネオジムを2Lの蒸留水に溶解して硝酸ネオジム溶液を得た。その後、この溶液に対し、緩衝剤としての硝酸アンモニウムを2mol/Lの量で溶解させ、更にアンモニア水を加えてpHを8まで増加させた。得られた溶液では、沈殿は発生していなかったが、光散乱があり、従って水酸化ネオジムコロイド粒子が存在していることが分かった。これらのコロイド粒子は、硝酸イオン及び水分子の吸着によって弱く負に帯電していると考えられる。
水酸化ネオジムコロイド溶液を得る工程において、アンモニア水を加えてpHを8まで増加させる代わりに、アンモニア水を加えてpHを6まで増加させたことを除いて実施例1と同様にして、イットリウム添加ジルコニア粒子の表面に酸化ネオジム富化領域が点在してなる実施例2の触媒担体粒子を得た。
最終的に得られる触媒担体粒子においてネオジムが全金属量の5mol%になるようにして、硝酸ネオジムを2Lの蒸留水に溶解して硝酸ネオジム溶液を得た。このようにして得られる硝酸ネオジム溶液に、イットリウム5%添加ジルコニア粉末を加えて、ネオジムイオンをこのジルコニア粉末に吸水担持させた。
実施例及び比較例の触媒担体粒子を、塩化ロジウム水溶液に1時間にわたって浸漬して、ロジウムを実施例及び比較例の触媒担体粒子に担持した。ロジウムを担持した実施例及び比較例の触媒担体粒子を乾燥及び焼成して、評価1のための実施例及び比較例のロジウム担持触媒担体粒子を得た。
実施例及び比較例の触媒担体粒子を含有するコート用スラリーを、下記の表2に示す組成で調製した。このスラリーを1時間にわたってミリングし、120g/基材−Lの量で、モノリスハニカム基材にコートした。スラリーでコートしたモノリス基材を乾燥し、600℃で1時間にわたって焼成して、評価用モノリス触媒担体基材を得た。
実施例及び比較例の触媒担体粒子を用いて、ディーゼル排ガス浄化用のディーゼルパティキュレートNOx還元触媒を製造した。本発明の触媒担体粒子では、比較的低温からHCとNOxとの反応が起こり、比較例の触媒担体粒子と比較して低温活性が大幅に改良された。

Claims (6)
- ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子の表面に、希土類酸化物富化領域が点在してなり、且つ前記ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子が、金属元素として、ジルコニウム、又はジルコニウムとアルカリ土類金属及び希土類元素からなる群より選択される金属とを含む、触媒担体粒子。
- 前記触媒担体粒子中の全金属元素に対して、希土類酸化物を富化された前記領域中の希土類元素のモル分率が、0.5mol%〜30mol%である、請求項1に記載の触媒担体粒子。
- 前記希土類酸化物が、ランタン、セリウム、プラセオジム、ネオジム及びサマリウムからなる群より選択される希土類元素の酸化物である、請求項1又は2に記載の触媒担体粒子。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の触媒担体粒子にロジウムが担持されてなる、排ガス浄化触媒。
- (a)希土類水酸化物又は酸化物のコロイド粒子を含有しているコロイド溶液を提供すること、
(b)前記コロイド溶液に、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を加えて、ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子の表面に前記コロイド粒子を吸着担持させること、並びに
(c)前記コロイド粒子を吸着担持させたジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子を、乾燥及び焼成すること、
を含み、且つ前記ジルコニア系金属酸化物粒子が、金属元素として、ジルコニウム、又はジルコニウムとアルカリ土類金属及び希土類元素からなる群より選択される金属とを含む、触媒担体粒子の製造方法。 - 希土類の塩の溶液を提供し、そしてこの塩溶液に塩基を加えることによって、工程(a)の前記コロイド溶液を提供する、請求項5に記載の方法。
