Description
以下、図面を参照して本発明の最良の実施形態について説明する。なお、以下の説明では、本発明の第1実施形態を適用した電気光学装置の一例として、液晶表示装置について説明する。
次に、本発明の第2実施形態に係る液晶表示装置の構成等について説明する。尚、以下では、第1実施形態に係る液晶表示装置100と同一の構成要素等については同一の符号を付し、その説明を省略する。
上記の第1実施形態に係る液晶表示装置100では、上フレーム4の四隅に開放部4bが形成されていた。また、上記の第2実施形態に係る液晶表示装置200では、その組立後の状態において、下フレーム7の側部7aに対応する位置であって、且つ、上フレーム4の二隅に開放部4bを形成されていた。しかし、これに限らず、本発明の液晶表示装置では、上フレーム4のいずれかの三隅に開放部4bを有するようにしても構わない。このように、本発明の液晶表示装置では、上フレーム4の少なくとも二隅に開放部4bが形成されていればよい。これにより、上フレーム4に加わる外力や衝撃が液晶表示パネル3の表示面に直接に及ばないようにすることができる。
次に、本発明による液晶表示装置100又は200を電子機器の表示装置として用いる場合の実施形態について説明する。

Claims (10)
- 少なくとも二隅に開放部を有し、略中央に開口部が形成された上フレームと、
前記上フレームの下方に配置され、一対の基板間に電気光学物質を封入してなる電気光学パネルと、
前記電気光学パネルの下方に配置された導光板と、
前記導光板の下方に配置され、前記電気光学パネル及び前記導光板を保持する枠状の中間フレームと、
前記中間フレームの下方に配置され、少なくとも光源が実装され、前記電気光学パネルと電気的に接続された可撓性の基板と、
前記基板の下方に配置され、前記中間フレームに対して取り付けられた帯状の下フレームと、を備え、
前記電気光学パネル及び前記導光板は、前記上フレームと前記中間フレームとによって挟持されており、
前記中間フレームの周囲4辺には各々支持部が形成されており、
前記中間フレームの少なくとも二隅は、前記支持部の各々よりも厚く形成されていると共に、前記上フレームの前記少なくとも二隅の開放部にて露出しており、
前記上フレームと前記下フレームとは相互に接触しない位置に配置されていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記下フレームの長さ方向の両端部は折り曲げられて前記上フレームの開放部内に収容されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記下フレームは、前記基板上の光源の位置を覆うように前記中間フレームに取り付けられていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記光源の高さ方向の中心軸と前記導光板の厚さ方向の中心軸とが一致するように、前記導光板、前記基板及び前記下フレームが相対的に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記基板は、前記電気光学パネルに接続された側の端部近傍で折り曲げられた状態で前記中間フレームと前記下フレームにより挟持されており、
前記中間フレームと前記基板の間に反射シートが設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記下フレームは、両短辺の周縁部及び少なくとも1つの長辺の周縁部に曲げ加工がされていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記上フレームの周縁部は、曲げ加工がされていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を表示部として備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
- 少なくとも二隅に開放部を有し、略中央に開口部が形成された上フレームを準備する工程と、
周囲4辺に各々支持部が形成され、少なくとも二隅が前記支持部の各々よりも厚みが厚く形成された枠状の中間フレームを準備する工程と、
一対の基板間に電気光学物質を封入してなる電気光学パネルに、少なくとも光源が実装された可撓性の基板を取り付ける工程と、
前記電気光学パネル及び前記電気光学パネルの下方に配置した導光板を、前記枠状の中間フレームに取り付ける工程と、
前記枠状の中間フレームの少なくとも二隅を前記上フレームの前記少なくとも二隅の開放部に露出させて、前記上フレームを、前記電気光学パネル及び前記導光板上方から前記中間フレームに対して取り付ける工程と、
前記中間フレームの下面に反射シートを取り付ける工程と、
前記基板を前記電気光学パネルとの接続部近傍で折り返して前記反射シートの下方へ配置する工程と、
前記基板の下方から、帯状の下フレームを前記中間フレームに対して取り付ける工程と、を有することを特徴とする電気光学装置の製造方法。 - 前記下フレームは前記上フレームと接触しない位置において、かつ、前記基板上の光源を覆う位置において、前記中間フレームに取り付けられることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の電気光学装置の製造方法。
