Description
上記目的を達成するために請求項1に係る発明は、ピストンの頂部に凹設され、かつ内部にスワールを保持すべく上部の開口部が絞られると共に底部中央に上方に隆起した凸部が形成されたリエントラント型のキャビティと、そのキャビティに向かって燃料を噴射し、かつピストンの圧縮上死点近傍で燃料を噴射するときは該燃料が上記キャビティの凸部より径方向外側の内壁に到達するように噴射角度が140°〜165°の範囲内に設定された燃料噴射手段と、排気ガスの一部を燃焼室内に還流する排気ガス還流手段と、上記燃料噴射手段による燃料の噴射時期及び上記排気ガス還流手段によるEGR率を制御する制御装置とを備えたディーゼルエンジンにおいて、上記制御装置は、エンジンの運転状態が低負荷領域であるときには、上記燃料噴射手段により14°〜30°BTDCの範囲内で燃料の噴射を開始してその噴射された燃料を上記キャビティの上部の開口部に衝突させて該キャビティ内に導入すると共に、その燃料の噴射をピストンの圧縮上死点よりも前に完了させ、他方、上記排気ガス還流手段による排気ガスの還流を50%以上のEGR率で行い、その還流された排気ガスと吸気と上記キャビティ内に導入された燃料とを、上記キャビティ内のスワールにより予混合した後、ピストンの圧縮上死点近傍で圧縮着火させて予混合燃焼させるものである。

Claims (7)
- 請求項1の「排気ガスの環流を50%以上の」との記載を「排気ガスの還流を50%以上の」と職権訂正し、次のとおりとする。
ピストンの頂部に凹設され、かつ内部にスワールを保持すべく上部の開口部が絞られると共に底部中央に上方に隆起した凸部が形成されたリエントラント型のキャビティと、そのキャビティに向かって燃料を噴射し、かつピストンの圧縮上死点近傍で燃料を噴射するときは該燃料が上記キャビティの凸部より径方向外側の内壁に到達するように噴射角度が140°〜165°の範囲内に設定された燃料噴射手段と、排気ガスの一部を燃焼室内に還流する排気ガス還流手段と、上記燃料噴射手段による燃料の噴射時期及び上記排気ガス還流手段によるEGR率を制御する制御装置とを備えたディーゼルエンジンにおいて、
上記制御装置は、エンジンの運転状態が低負荷領域であるときには、
上記燃料噴射手段により14°〜30°BTDCの範囲内で燃料の噴射を開始してその噴射された燃料を上記キャビティの上部の開口部に衝突させて該キャビティ内に導入すると共に、その燃料の噴射をピストンの圧縮上死点よりも前に完了させ、
他方、上記排気ガス還流手段による排気ガスの還流を50%以上のEGR率で行い、その還流された排気ガスと吸気と上記キャビティ内に導入された燃料とを、上記キャビティ内のスワールにより予混合した後、ピストンの圧縮上死点近傍で圧縮着火させて予混合燃焼させることを特徴とするディーゼルエンジン。 - 上記制御装置は、エンジンの運転状態が中・高負荷領域であるときには、上記燃料噴射手段による燃料の噴射時期をピストンの圧縮上死点近傍に制御して拡散燃焼を実現させる請求項1記載のディーゼルエンジン。
- 上記請求項1または2記載のディーゼルエンジンであって、
排気通路に設けられた触媒と、その触媒よりも上流側で上記排気通路を流れる排気ガスに添加剤を添加するための添加剤添加手段と、その添加剤添加手段に供給する添加剤を蓄えるための添加剤収容手段とを備えた排気ガス後処理装置と、
上記添加剤収容手段に蓄えられた添加剤の量を検出するための添加剤残量検出手段とを更に備え、
上記制御装置は、上記添加剤残量検出手段の検出値が第一所定値以下であるときには、エンジンの運転状態が上記中・高負荷領域であっても上記予混合燃焼を実現させることを特徴とするディーゼルエンジン。 - 上記制御装置は、上記添加剤残量検出手段の検出値が上記第一所定値以下であるときには、エンジン回転速度とアクセル開度とに基づいて決定する要求トルクを、上記低負荷領域における最大要求トルク以下に制限する請求項3記載のディーゼルエンジン。
- 上記制御装置は、上記添加剤残量検出手段の検出値が上記第一所定値以下であるときには、エンジン回転速度とアクセル開度とに基づいて決定する燃料噴射量を、上記低負荷領域における最大燃料噴射量以下に制限する請求項3記載のディーゼルエンジン。
- 上記制御装置により作動可能な警告手段を更に備え、
上記制御装置は、上記添加剤残量検出手段の検出値が、上記第一所定値以上の値に設定される第二所定値以下となったときに上記警告手段を作動させる請求項3〜5いずれかに記載のディーゼルエンジン。 - 上記排気ガス後処理装置の触媒は選択接触還元触媒であり、上記添加剤はアンモニア水溶液、尿素水溶液又は液体アンモニアである請求項3〜6いずれかに記載のディーゼルエンジン。
