Abstract
Description
図1は、本実施形態に係る内燃機関の排気装置1を模式的に示す図である。この排気装置1は、車両前後方向に延び、エンジン(内燃機関)2からの排気ガスが流通する排気管10と、排気ガスを浄化する触媒コンバータ3と、排気音を小さくするサブマフラー4と、メインマフラー5と、を備えている。この排気管10は、車両前後方向前側(上流側)のフロントパイプ11と、車両前後方向中央部のセンターパイプ(図示せず)と、車両前後方向後側(下流側)のテールパイプ13と、を備えている。フロントパイプ11は、その上流端がエンジン2に設けられた排気マニホールド(図示せず)に接続されていて、触媒コンバータ3とサブマフラー4とが介設されている。テールパイプ13は、上流側の第1パイプ15と、下流側の第2パイプ17と、を備えていて、第2パイプ17の下流端がメインマフラー5に接続されている。
図2は、排気管10の下流端部を模式的に示す縦断図である。また、図3は、排気管10の下流端部を模式的に示す図であり、同図(a)は図2のIIIa−IIIa線の矢視断面図であり、同図(b)は図2のIIIb−IIIb線の矢視断面図であり、同図(c)は図2のIIIc−IIIc線の矢視断面図であり、同図(d)は図2のIIId−IIId線の矢視断面図である。なお、図2では、第2パイプ17および仕切板20のみを断面で示している。排気管10の下流端部に相当する第2パイプ17は、図3に示すように、上下二分割の上側半割管17aと下側半割管17bとを、僅かにラップさせて溶接で接合することで形成されており、所謂「モナカ管」として構成されている。
また、第2パイプ17には、図2に示すように、テールパイプ13の折れ変形の起点となる脆弱部30が設けられている。より詳しくは、脆弱部30は、図3(d)に示すように、仕切板20よりも下流側に設けられた、第2パイプ17の上部を下方に凹ませた凹み部31によって構成されている。
ところで、第2パイプ17の内部に仕切板20を設けると、第2パイプ17の断面係数が大きくなるため、第2パイプ17が折れ変形し難くなる。すると、第2パイプ17を折れ易くする脆弱部30と、第2パイプ17を折れ難くする仕切板20とを共に第2パイプ17に設けた場合、両者の位置関係によっては、具体的には、脆弱部30と仕切板20とがラップする場合には、後方衝突時における脆弱部30を起点とする第2パイプ17の折れ変形を仕切板20が妨げることになる。
本発明は、実施形態に限定されず、その精神又は主要な特徴から逸脱することなく他の色々な形で実施することができる。

Claims (4)
- 内燃機関からの排気ガスが流通する排気管の下流端部に、当該排気管の折れ変形の起点となる脆弱部が設けられ、且つ、当該排気管内を上下に仕切る仕切板を設けることで、当該仕切板の下側に当該排気管に溜まった水を流通させる通路が形成された内燃機関の排気装置であって、
上記仕切板は、上記脆弱部の近傍、且つ、上記排気管の軸方向で上記脆弱部とラップしない位置に設けられていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気装置。 - 上記請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気装置において、
上記脆弱部は、上記仕切板よりも下流側に設けられた、上記排気管の上部を下方に凹ませた凹み部によって構成されており、
上記仕切板は、上記通路の断面積が上流側および下流側よりも中央部で小さくなるように、その上流側部位が下流側に行くほど下方に傾斜し、且つ、その下流側部位が下流側に行くほど上方に傾斜するように形成されており、
上記凹み部と上記下流側部位とは、当該凹み部の下端が当該下流側部位の仮想延長面よりも下側に突出しないように形成されていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気装置。 - 上記請求項2に記載の内燃機関の排気装置において、
上記凹み部と上記下流側部位とは、当該凹み部の下端と当該下流側部位の仮想延長面とが略面一になるように構成されていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気装置。 - 上記請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の内燃機関の排気装置において、
上記脆弱部および上記仕切板は、上記排気管のうち、上下二分割の半割管で構成される部位に設けられていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気装置。
