Abstract
Description
ASTM 5590の下で菌類成長の制御を評価するために、例1A−1Fを調製した。例1A−1Fは、表1に示される組成物を含んだ。例1B−1Fで使用される銅含有ガラス粒子は、45モル%のSiO2、35モル%のCuO、7.5モル%のK2O、7.5モル%のB2O3、及び5モル%のP2O5の組成を含んだ。
ZnPT及び銅含有ガラスを含む塗料の色を評価した。例3A−3Dは、実施例1で使用したのと同じ、バイオサイドを有しない対照塗料Aを含んだ。例3Aは、ZnPT又は銅含有ガラスの粒子を何ら含まなかった。例3B−3Dはそれぞれ、1g/ガロン(約0.264g/L)、5g/ガロン(約1.32g/L)、及び10g/ガロン(約2.64g/L)の銅含有ガラス粒子を含んだ。例3A−3Dはいずれも、ZnPTを含まなかった。表3に示されるように、最大10g/ガロン(約2.64g/L)の濃度において最小限の色変化が観察された。表3中のデルタEは、例3Aの色座標に関する。詳細には、例3B−3Dのそれぞれについて、式:√((L*−L* 例3A)2+(a*−a* 例3A)2+(b*−b* 例3A)2)を用いてデルタEを特定した。
Kirby−Bauer抗菌試験(KB試験又はディスク拡散感受性試験)に基づいて得られる黄色ブドウ球菌の阻害試験の領域を用いて、抗菌能力を評価した。KB試験は抗生物質含浸ウエハを用いて、細菌が抗生物質により影響を受けるか否かを試験する。実施例1において、コ−バイオサイドを含有する着色紙基板を、あらかじめA.pullulans(かび)又はA.niger/A.funiculosum(白かび)を広げた寒天プレート上に配置する。各プレートを、37℃で一晩インキュベートする。バイオサイドが細菌の成長を停止する又は細菌を死滅させると、基板の周りに細菌が見えるほど成長していない領域が現れる;この領域は、阻害の領域と称される。この領域のサイズは、細菌の成長の停止においてバイオサイドがいかに効果的かに依存する。より低い濃度のバイオサイドが成長を停止させるのに十分であるので、より強いバイオサイドはより大きい領域を生じる。

前記ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方が、担体の約150mg/ガロン(39.6mg/L)〜担体の約40g/ガロン(約10.6g/L)の範囲内で存在する、実施形態1に記載の材料。
さらにZnを含む、実施形態1又は2に記載の材料。
前記銅含有粒子が、銅含有ガラス及び亜酸化銅のいずれか一方又は両方を含む、実施形態1〜3のいずれかに記載の材料。
前記銅含有粒子は、約20g/ガロン(約5.28g/L)以下の量で存在する、実施形態4に記載の材料。
前記銅含有ガラスは、複数のCu1+イオンを含みかつB2O3、P2O5、及びR2Oの少なくとも1つを含む、赤銅鉱相を含む、実施形態4又は5に記載の材料。
40モル%超のSiO2を含むガラス相をさらに含む、実施形態6に記載の材料。
前記赤銅鉱相が、前記ガラス相中に分散される、実施形態7に記載の材料。
前記赤銅鉱相及びガラス相のいずれか一方又は両方が、Cu1+を含む、実施形態7又は8に記載の材料。
前記赤銅鉱相が、約5マイクロメートル(μm)以下の平均主要寸法を有する結晶を含む、実施形態6〜9のいずれかに記載の材料。
前記赤銅鉱相が、分解性でありかつ水の存在下で浸出する、実施形態6〜10のいずれかに記載の材料。
前記担体が、ポリマー、モノマー、結合剤又は溶媒を含む、実施形態1〜11のいずれかに記載の材料。
前記担体が塗料を含む、実施形態1〜12のいずれかに記載の材料。
前記材料が、清浄薬試験条件として銅合金の効果のためのEPA試験法の下で、黄色ブドウ球菌の濃度における3超の対数減少を示す、実施形態1〜14のいずれかに記載の材料。
担体;及び
複数の銅イオン、並びに、ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方を含むコ−バイオサイド
を含む塗料であって、
前記塗料が層として表面に塗布された後、前記層が、CIE L*a*b系において、約94〜約100の範囲内のL*値、及び約5未満のデルタE値を示し、デルタE=√(L*2+a*2+b*2)であり、
前記層が、ASTM 5590の下で、かび又は白かびの成長を示さない、
塗料。
前記ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方が、担体の約150mg/ガロン(39.6mg/L)〜担体の約40g/ガロン(約10.6g/L)の範囲内で存在する、実施形態15に記載の塗料。
さらにZnを含む、実施形態15又は16に記載の塗料。
銅含有粒子をさらに含み、該銅含有粒子が、銅含有ガラス及び亜酸化銅のいずれか一方又は両方を含む、実施形態15〜17のいずれかに記載の塗料。
前記銅含有粒子は、約20g/ガロン(5.28g/L)以下の量で存在する、実施形態18に記載の塗料。

- 担体;及び
複数の銅含有粒子、並びに、ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方を含むコ−バイオサイド
を含む材料であって、
1ガロンの担体ごとの前記銅含有粒子(g)、並びに、ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方(g)の割合が、約0.005〜約12の範囲内である、
材料。 - 前記ZnPT及びトラロピリルのいずれか一方又は両方が、前記担体の約150mg/ガロン(39.6mg/L)〜担体の約40g/ガロン(約10.6g/L)の範囲内で存在することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の材料。
- 前記銅含有粒子が、銅含有ガラス及び亜酸化銅のいずれか一方又は両方を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の材料。
- 前記銅含有ガラスは、複数のCu1+イオンを含みかつB2O3、P2O5、及びR2Oの少なくとも1つを含む、赤銅鉱相、及び、40モル%超のSiO2を含むガラス相、を含むことを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の材料。
